As there was a bit of chat on the game yesterday we might as well have a thread for this game.
The Dutch proved their worth yesterday with a good result against Lancashire, getting them all out for 236 before a tight chase and a 1 wicket victory. For some reason they play 2 games in 2 days, maybe Essex and Lancs wanted to save money by sharing a plane or osmething.
The Squads:
Netherlands PW Borren*, W Barresi†, CJ Borgas, Mudassar Bukhari, TLW Cooper, TGJ Gruijters, TJ Heggelman, MAA Jamil, SJ Myburgh, PM Seelaar, MR Swart, ES Szwarczynski, T van der Gugten
Essex J Foster*†, M Pettini, A Petersen, R Bopara, O Shah, T Westley, C Willoughby, G Smith, T Mills, G Napier, T Phillips, M Comber, D Masters
The Essex side looks pretty strong to me, especially batting wise however I can't help but feel that 3.85 on the Dutch is well worth backing again and have duly done so.
The pitch isn't a high scoring one and was good for the spinners yesterday but the Dutch certainly early on played it very well against the pace bowlers.
Spinners could be the key here. Parry and Keedy choked the runs and took the wickets, just as Swart and Seelaar has for the Dutch. Pace bowlers were then smashed out of the ground.
Tim Phillips was a decent spin bowler for Essex in one-dayers last year, but has seen very little action this. Alviro Petersen and Owais Shah are the only other spin options for Essex.
Whichever way you look at it, Essex are far weaker than Lancs were yesterday in that department.
I make Netherlands 3.25 shots for this. Got some decent prices about them yesterday.
Back Your Odds Your Stake Your Profit Netherlands 3.6 £111.28 £289.33 3.7 £37.03 £99.98 3.75 £5.54 £15.24

Essex won the toss and elected to bat Match start delayed (Start delayed due to rain)
So Essex have chosen to bat first despite the possibility of Duckworth Lewis

switched a bulk of my profit onto essex now having traded out the dutch at 1.3's.
lovely profit for the day and these 2 dutch games have more than made up for anything i might have lost on the IPL!

indeed, a lot of people paying the price for underrating them it seems.
some crazy pre match prices 2 days running, especially today given how they did yesterday.
Be interesting to see how they're priced for their next match!

wish i hadn't moved so much of my profit on to essex. was hoping for a decent bit of consolidation and them to get to 100 without losing a 5th wicket, as it happens they haven't made it to 70 without losing a 6th!

hadn't even noticed the game had been reduced to 36 overs a side until now. Makes Netherlands' performance even better given how slowly Essex are scoring

a little partnership here and a few boundaries and market will soon fall in love with Essex again.
took a bit more dutch lay at 1.15.
hopefully no wickets for a while!

were looking like they might limp their way towards 140-150 their for a bit with that partnership then they lose both players in 2 balls and only make 1 more run.
140 and I'd have said they might have stood a chance, 112, surely the Dutch will chase that. they've already performed well at the top of the order yesterday scoring quick runs to take the game away early on

interesting spin seemed to do the job yesterday but 7 went to Medium-fast and 3 to spin today.
price going out on Dutch during the break now!
i'm tempted to back the dutch with all my Essex green but an early wicket would probably have the market wetting itself

Spinners didn't have much chance with most of the Essex wickets down before Seelaar and Swart came on. 2/18 and 1/13 for that pair still suggests spin might be needed.

Sitting on dutch back at 3 here, pretty pleasing scenes for me. Thanks Screaming for pointing out Netherlands value yesterday, very underrated team indeed.

I was on Dutch today but I'll admit I laid them between innings yesterday - thought Lancashire had too many of them to be honest. Still profit from today more than accounted for loss on them yesterday
