As there was a bit of chat on the game yesterday we might as well have a thread for this game.

The Dutch proved their worth yesterday with a good result against Lancashire, getting them all out for 236 before a tight chase and a 1 wicket victory.  For some reason they play 2 games in 2 days, maybe Essex and Lancs wanted to save money by sharing a plane or osmething.

The Squads:

Netherlands
PW Borren*, W Barresi†, CJ Borgas, Mudassar Bukhari, TLW Cooper, TGJ Gruijters, TJ Heggelman, MAA Jamil, SJ Myburgh, PM Seelaar, MR Swart, ES Szwarczynski, T van der Gugten

Essex
J Foster*†, M Pettini, A Petersen, R Bopara, O Shah, T Westley, C Willoughby, G Smith, T Mills, G Napier, T Phillips, M Comber, D Masters

The Essex side looks pretty strong to me, especially batting wise however I can't help but feel that 3.85 on the Dutch is well worth backing again and have duly done so.

The pitch isn't a high scoring one and was good for the spinners yesterday but the Dutch certainly early on played it very well against the pace bowlers.

Spinners could be the key here. Parry and Keedy choked the runs and took the wickets, just as Swart and Seelaar has for the Dutch. Pace bowlers were then smashed out of the ground.

Tim Phillips was a decent spin bowler for Essex in one-dayers last year, but has seen very little action this. Alviro Petersen and Owais Shah are the only other spin options for Essex.

Whichever way you look at it, Essex are far weaker than Lancs were yesterday in that department.

I make Netherlands 3.25 shots for this. Got some decent prices about them yesterday.

The hot topic on Radio Essex today is 'What do we do with road kill?  Should we go back and finish it off?'

Preferably with a car jack I'd imagine.

switched a bulk of my profit onto essex now having traded out the dutch at 1.3's.

lovely profit for the day and these 2 dutch games have more than made up for anything i might have lost on the IPL!

indeed, a lot of people paying the price for underrating them it seems.

some crazy pre match prices 2 days running, especially today given how they did yesterday.

Be interesting to see how they're priced for their next match!

wish i hadn't moved so much of my profit on to essex.  was hoping for a decent bit of consolidation and them to get to 100 without losing a 5th wicket, as it happens they haven't made it to 70 without losing a 6th!
By:

When: 29 May 12 14:44
hadn't even noticed the game had been reduced to 36 overs a side until now. Makes Netherlands' performance even better given how slowly Essex are scoring
By:
fairfranco
When: 29 May 12 14:50
this is some proper woeful stuff from Essex, surely the bowling can't be that good and the pitch that bad for this kind of capitulation!
By:
fairfranco
When: 29 May 12 14:51
on the plus for Essex, it's unlikely they're going to use 36 overs anyway so at least it gives the Dutch less time!
