plenty of time yet, good ole Jubilee and street parties to enjoy in the meantime. Lot's of possible weather synopses to peruse, the worst of which can only possibly save the Windies. Heads will be well down, "loser" scenarios bla bla. 3.5 clear days and Eng have another spare day.
Lustrumm - Windies won't bowl us out twice but they may have us 30-3 which is why people snapped up the 40s+ on them. The price will contract if that happens.
It's a trading site. People look to call a stage of a game, not always the result.

Really bizzare market. Can't remember last time wi took 22 wickets even more so in under 2 days. This market must think big curtly and Walsh are taking the new ball

Really cannot understand this free money nonsense, yes the draw is fairy certain but anyone backing at 1.03 really doesn't comprehend trading and will end up getting severely burnt one day. Who has the greater profit at the moment, the 1.03 backers or layers?

For me this game has been destroyed by rain as a betting propositionso I'm Clydesdale Banking It Up A Storm this afternoon.
But am Very Interested to see how Narine gets on!

Meteox is just the raw GFS operational run. They use it because it's free-of-charge. It has no input from even the GFS ensemble runs, never mind human beings.
And the BBC is the Met Office forecast from half a day ago.

You're missing the point Nigel, yes I'm sure you will win on your draw bet, however, to make any meaningful profit you would have to risk(?) several thousands, by laying at 1.03 you have risked a fraction of that and already made your profit by greening out at 1.05. I wish you well, all I am saying is be careful.

They began at 2pm, and this was scheduled as a 2 and a half hour session.
Whether that's still the case after the first session was extended, I'm not sure. Sorry.

screaming - that's excatly what I posted earlier from meteox and bbc. Those sources IMHO are second to none.
Uncle - I've been on the draw since pre-match so doesn't apply in my case.

mariner - remember there'll be plenty of those who laid England off at 4 when the market went nuts - why not take your profit early and stick it on another sport say tennis and Nadal?

And the problem with this is you've not considered the weather and the fact they still needed 18 wickets!! Really pointless
FREE MUNNY!!! FREE MUNNY!!!!And Narine hasn't even got going yetShockedAnd the problem with this is you've not considered the weather and the fact they still needed 18 wickets!! Really pointless
Yep. Delighted to see all you free money sheep trading out your 1.03 backs at 1.03 for a free profit of 0% just 3 hours and 3 wickets later.
How is that not "really pointless"?

i know it was a bit unfair of me wurzel, particularly after dernbach being so very very crap in the big bash.
but i really think T20 is the worst possible proving ground for a bowler: being difficult to slog is not the same as being a good bowler.

what a shame we didn't get a five day test though - would have been a great contest! I fear ENG are going to struggle against SA if they don't sort a few things out.

england are should be significantly better than south africa in home conditions in most areas. steyn's a trump card obviously but england are massively superior from 7 to 11 in batting.

V. good point. Explains why Ajantha Mendis is the number-2 ranked international T20 bowler.

it's effectively a bet on whether there's any play tomorrow. Weather forecasts across the web seem inconclusive - some indicate total washouts others less rain.
Might just get on the phone to my pal at the Met Office

have to confess, i have no idea about the weather tomor just whats been said on the radio and on sky. With a quick look at the met office website everynow and again.
I had some money up at 1.1 hoping someone might have taken it and i could have a happy-ish night.
but then someone put 2k up at 1.2 lol... Which like you say... doesnt make it seem good for the morning.
I was thinking tho about laying bell at 1.2 and betting over 325 at 1.2 ish. hope bell gets out but still have some play to cover you?????
im +250kp +350 bell +50 anyother
Wanted / was hoping my ton @1.11 bell would have gone. and i could have stayed in bed.
ideally, i just want 1 session tomor, bell to get up and england to make 300-349.

Yeah agree with all this - Mendis is a possible example of the way Narine's career might go. Just think it is a bit premature to make a judgement based on one match - he's got a lot of ability - can he translate that into being a good test bowler ?

shame for warwickshire gonna be a loss making year most likely, similar situation sent glamorgan nearly bankrupt, dont they have to pay the ECB a stack to hold a test venue

Astonishing this wasn't called off at 1pm. If it stopped now (and it won't for 4+ hours) how much play could they get in ?
Last week there was a bit of innovative umpiring when they shortened an innings break in a CB 40 game to ensure a 10 over second innings. What is this all about ? Are they looking at radar images of The Sahara ffs ?

i am not sure there is any form of protection from the ECB.
i think its just tough luck
they would have lost a stack lad of cash from this.

simply baffling that the 2nd biggest ground outside lords and the one england probably like playing at best won't have a test against australia next year or india in 2014

With the recent results, the strength of the crowd, and the atmospere they create, the decision to not give them another Ashes Test is nothing short of a disgrace imho. As Vaughan and Flintoff have been quoted, the fans at Edgbaston are our 12th man.

Agreed. Cricket is a baffling sport at times. There is so much good about it and it's exciting but fans are treated with contempt and so it seems good venues.
