agree step, trott will be my hinderance should he come in. he'll scratch around and probably reduce number of overs by a 1 or 2 and can be slow starting.
they're half way there in less than half the time against the new ball so hopefully the runs keep flowing as they are. |

yep happened before the start of play for about 3 minutes, ward, nasser and knight, there was no Andy Grey moment though. Quite funny watching them rehearsing though

not a single maiden for the West Indies this morning which is pretty good going from England and i'm sure a pretty rare thing for the first 20 overs of a new ball in a test match. |

i was about to hurl more abuse at trott but i take it back, he's pulled in 6 runs just when required leaving 1 for strauss to pick up.

Harsh to lose a review when the ball was hitting the stumps. I understand why margin of error is built into the system re out v not out, but I wonder whether they should keep the review if the ball is hitting the stumps.

This is as one sided a test match as you'll see, very much a number one side hammering a number 7 ranked side

yes windies currently getting hammered, you could argue england had some fortune, nevertheless would not of made that much difference

England at home are formidable and couldnt argue with their N1 status on that basis. However saffers will give them a run for their money thats for sure

Smith, Amla, Kallis, dumminy, Villers, Rudolph, Boucher, Steyn, philander, Morkel, Tahir, yes a weaker batting tail but stronger first five batting imo. And equal bowling attack, only difference is home advantage for England which gives them a slight edge in the ecounter

probably just edge it to england in top5s though pretty close.
Englands advantages are - better wk/batsman, longer tail, better spinner and seam bowling depth South Africa advantages - best bowler in world, stronger option for 5th bowler |

yes currently better wk/batsmen saffers might have villers doing the job then play peterson opening, yes swann better than tahir but not by far on current form, and steps you know my views on Philander
i think hes N1 one in world on current form with Anderson and Steyn fighting for second. |

Think Philander will give England a really hard time compared to this bowling, 140 kphs plus on a metronomic length swinging the ball sharply both ways, aka G Mcrath
