not going to go into detail but the people involved will know all about it,The voiding of bets on Gambhir to top score against bangalore today was a disgrace.
very worrying to know that when you have placed a bet that was matched and sorted that you arent actually on in reality.

betfair you are a disgrace!

Read the rules. Check my post on your other thread and you will understand why the rule is in place.

HI JUST GOT IN TO SEE MY winnings , i backed gambit too. whats the story please 1 more time for a layman. no winnings or no stake returned to me i think .
Report Strawberryface • April 28, 2012 10:52 PM BST
There was a NR.

They brought the rule in after a NZ V Aus ODI a few years ago. Someone got wind that one of the batsmen listed wasn't going to be playing (Hayden I think) and began offering what looked like overbroke books.

Someone assumed this was a bot gone wrong and kept backing all selections building up a huge green book. Of course as soon as the teams were annoounced the NR was voided and his all green book turned into a large 5 figure red which was way over his balance.

I think BF covered the losses but quickly changed the rules as it was too susceptible to fraud from colluding punters. The only real alternative is to offer a rule 4 however that is almost impossible to do as the "true" price is virtually impossible to ascertain.

thanks , already read that line in your previous posts, i just glanced at my acc statement am i right in assuming that my stake was lost too? and would you advise against future backing of top batsman markets?
Report aston • April 28, 2012 11:04 PM BST
strawberryface, Sorry can you please explain that.  Why did taking out the nr change his book from green to red? Was the bet on hayden still included?
Report aston • April 28, 2012 11:06 PM BST
Piechucker your stake cant have been lost.  If bets are voided there is no win and no loss as if you didnt bet in the first place
Report Strawberryface • April 28, 2012 11:08 PM BST
All the bets on Hayden were voided.

I should have said that someone kept laying the book and built up a big green which went very red when Hayden was taken out.

In effect they thought they were laying something like 7/2 each of 5 runners when in fact they ended up layng 7/2 each of 4 runners meaning their green turned to red.
Report aston • April 28, 2012 11:11 PM BST
ok that makes sense if they were laying and not backing
Report Mushtaq • April 28, 2012 11:11 PM BST
I suspect the incident involved somebody mistakenly laying all selections, not backing them?  So when Hayden was removed they were left with massive liabilities because the overbroke book depended on Hayden being a runner.

is it allowed to beton more than 1 top batsman in the same innings? say take both openers, which isnt the worst thing to do in t20
Report aston • April 28, 2012 11:26 PM BST
piechucker you can back or lay all of the batsmen if you like and if you manage to get the right odds you can  green up i.e. make a profit whatever the outcome

cheers aston.

every bookies have different rules, some are ok i find and quite a few companies are following indian rules where sometimes your winning bet becomes void
if a bit of rain comes

id rather bet with high street bookmakers on top bat , they pay you out on top bet batsman even if it rains and there is 9-10 over game! You have a advantage backing 3/1 opening batsman pre match... with some mugs they would void it because it rains
Report rawcs2012 • April 29, 2012 1:56 AM BST
strawberryface,i think you miss the point here  betfair compile the list of batsmen and at 3.26pm about 4 minutes from the start of play trading starts from that list,i backed gambhir at 3.27pm and my bet was matched and i was on,the match started at 3.30pm and i watch my bet sail in with gambhir top scoring with ease,i later check my bets and see it hasnt been settled and is still in my unsettled bets 20 minutes after the game, the bet never was settled nor in my voided bets!
i ring the helpline hours later to be told the ets were voided cos betfair put `bisla` in the list and he was a non runner WTF!!  ...what kind of company can then void bets that are matched and punters are watching the game completely unaware they are watching a bet win thathas been voided?

Betfair are a disgrace and need to change some rules quickly imo..
Report the silverback • April 29, 2012 9:15 AM BST
See if you can find a definition of "named reserve" that Bisla fits into.
Report Kelly • April 29, 2012 11:21 AM BST
See my other post too .  Bisla was 18 to back as I recall , not sure if anyone backed him .  He was irrelevant to the market effectively .  Do not know him as a player , where does he normally play , is it the KKR ?  If he does not play for them wtf was he doing in that market ?
Report Srichaphan or Ancic? • April 29, 2012 11:51 AM BST
You should have got your stake returned on any market that was cancelled. Check to ensure it is not included in your liabilities, as it may have been ringfenced.
Report rawcs2012 • April 29, 2012 1:30 PM BST
it gets more bizar the more you hear about this `bisla non runner` fiasco.to put it simply betfair have cheated and stolen money from me and anyone who backed gambhir yesterday,as yet i havent had a reply to my email i sent to the help desk but that doesnt surprise me.

the people that laid gambhir must have felt good getting there money back but its dirty money and nothing to be smug about.
Report dougydougy. • April 29, 2012 3:36 PM BST
they have not stollen your money, read the rules, if there is a non runner in their list the whole market is void. Check you account again for the returned funds.
Report Nilsson Schmilsson • April 29, 2012 3:50 PM BST
loves these, i didn't read the rules and am now seething threads LaughLaughLaugh
Report Strawberryface • April 29, 2012 4:00 PM BST
They haven't cheated however if the market was only opened a few minutes before the start then it is a bit poor them not being able to get the right players included. However that is poor service not cheating. If anything BF have done themselves out of money as they earned no commisison on the market. A sloppy mistake that shouldn't have happened but certainly not cheating.
Report VardonVoo. • April 29, 2012 4:24 PM BST
I wonder how much was actually wagered on the non-runner in those few minutes. It might well have been more economical or at least good PR to simply make good those bets if there weren't many anyway.
Report lanza • April 29, 2012 6:01 PM BST
the only fair thing to do was to void all bets.  Well done betfair!.......

I was looking at an almighty £7 quid loss on gg.  Thought it was a gonna.  Laugh

I laid gg, fat jack, bullcum, and anyother and kept bisla green as i thought he might come in 3rd like he has done in a few games so far.  He's actually looked quite good in a few previous games so i was hoping for a few wickets and then to use the green to lay.

Was quite lucky there, didnt even realise he wasnt in the 11.   But thought something was up when there was no market loss showing in me statements?

betfair couldnt do anything but void, cuz if id known he was missing and red then i would have asked them to look into it.

you cant go ignoring the rules that have been on here for years.  Unlucky, if you backed him, good call (witha little luck) and move on and look for another winner.

Had  £20 quid on ifran pathan the day before in game 2 @20/1 voided by paddywankrs cuz some overs were lost.  You just have to move on if its in their rules.
