Guess its because India aren't playing
Anyway going to be a fairly interesting little mini series.
England are not sure if Broad will be fit but they may go with 3 spinners (Patel/Swann/Panesar) with Anderson and Finn in attack.
Bells place also under threat but might be spared with Bopara's inury.
Cricinfo say that handling spin will be the key for England but Im not sure Sri Lanka have the class of spin that Pakistan had.
Anyway, England are looking pretty big for this first test imo but I will wait to see how the wicket plays. There is usually some pretty decent opportunities in Sri Lanka after the first couple of days.
GL all.

you cannot really rely on a lad who doesn't have the will power to skip a few pasties to get you over the line
he shouldn't be anywhere near the test team
come on Broady

England must be one of the worst sides ever at chasing a total - they were never in this.
well at least eng have one positive here...they've scored the highest 4th inning score on this pitch
should have cruised to victory when trott and prior were batting, touched 1.5
250/6 was right on cue. Always going to be a problem with england lower to middle order. Wickets could always fall in bunches. Although this one isn't over, it really is a one wicket game here
do england chase this from here once in every 4 times?
I dont think so
I dont think so
Folks - the £50 comp: we have five people with Sri Lanka/Jaya, and one with England/Jaya.

With SL now looking winners, vbscorpion is in the box seat, having Sri L/Jaya/1147
The only entrant with Eng/Jaya is lanza
he has history for this broad
one of the people you want out there in this situation imo

bcm isnt there a forum were all the comps could be posted?maybe in general
BCM 2 Broady Swanny Jimmy and Monty might not agree with you there
worcester - they didn't enter the comp
rommel - will think about that, tend to put them in the forum according to the sport
I think the idea is to have them in here to encourage people to come and post on here rommel. and to reward those that are posting on the threads.
anyone taking a punt on England now?
I'm getting involved for a few pennies, another 20 runs and price will look very different, both lads capable enough of putting a few on.

Actually you'll see I posted at 9.51 my incredulity that the odds were even - can't understand why anyone would think England would chase down 340. Worst side ever at choking in 4th innings.
i know and understand, but its a bugger missing one, theyre very good, thx for it all by the way, good fun
I think I prefer them in the respective forums myself - as fairfranco says, I'm trying to generate a bit of interest per sport really
without loss of a wicket Chelsea
i would say earlier for a market panic
i would say earlier for a market panic
BCM would you be able to exempt me from the premium charge? Thanks.
desperate last 30 mins from England..good night vienna....
They've worked so hard to get into a good position and have given it away all rather tamely.
a few years ago that was an automatic not out
the current draw prices for test matches don't take that into consideration

trying to trade england whilst that meltdown has gone on costly for me, wiped out most green on that spineless batting collapse, not even a few overs or partnerships to buy time, just folded like origami
it is the new ball chelsea
much tougher to play once the shine goes off.
much tougher to play once the shine goes off.
but were england really got out there? poor shot selection imo
1 wicket could always bring 3 or 4 in these conditions
the one positive for Patel is that at least he can tuck into a good tea now
right, 15 minutes to teach Anderson and Monty how to bat!
15 minutes to instruct Broad to give Anderson and Monty as little of the strike as possible

I thing England is favorite because srilankans are in poor form from last few months.
you cant rule out broad going ballistic here and causing the market to panic
he is surely going to be aggressive
he is surely going to be aggressive
doesnt matter lads, playing windies at home in few months, catch up on your averages, and big scores, to keep your place
How many more games will swanns arrogance cost. Over rated spinner and the most selfish player I can remember all trott and priors work undone More worried bout hoe he looks than the result
chelsea ? you not stick with the sl position from yesterday? I've rode with mine. absolutely nerveracking!
ive traded the game mate, gone from nice green to small green now, england batting collapse cost me dearly
What a load of crap Jermaine, go for a walk and calm down and post something less ridiculous. Swann been absolute class for the last 2 years, would get in any side in the world and a very talented tail ender to go with it, not his job to get England over the line here.
lumped on sri lanka this morning then left when prior and trott were going well knew it was a take the dog for a walk bet so i went to uni, feeling good seeing what im seeing what was the highest sri lanka touched anyone?
Anderson has improved so much as a batsman. Respectable lower order player now, not just a blocker.
Its brought me back in it, was undecided at one stage to just take a huge red across the board. Always thought if they managed to get a wicket though they would come in bunches.
Although i did do my lumping when they were 1.3 yesterday. Never again!
all over, lost the last 6 wickets in no time at all

now thats what i call a truly sensational "boneless wonder collapse",well done boys
Great for Betfair. No one came close to their competition this morning. Another £25 in their bank
well that was a quick one
not a good start for the new batting coach
not a good start for the new batting coach
340 was always going to be too many. Although they made a decent fist of it to be fair. They shouldn't have lost from the position they were in, but it was always going to take either trott or prior to be not out at the end.
That batting lineup needs to take a long hard look at themselves and take responsibility to be the one to win the game. They don't play like the no1 team in the world.
Over and out.

A true Bob classic there: 'Strauss packed in ODI cricket coz he was henpecked at home'
The volume of cricket up until the end of last summer was enormous and I can see why Strauss retired at the of a world cup cycle. However, his form is now a major worry.

The way he's bowled this winter he wouldn't get in the bangla team
He thinks it's still acceptable to be 15 kg over weight and avoid having to run

done £250 on this game could have gone nicely green but really thought with Trott & Prior making it look easy that England would win this perhaps the tail dont wag as good as it used too
Hello all - no surprise (given the situation at the time) that no-one called a 75-run SL win in our little spot competition earlier this morning. But I'll pop a tenner in pauliow's account for being closest (SL by 20 runs) - pauliow, I'll send you a PM to confirm some details, please reply. Thanks!
By the way, the £50 competition was won by vbscorpion (please reply to the PM I have sent you to arrange payment).
top tipping vbscorpion
saffers go number 1 and a saffer take the tipping trophy

Swann has played 4 matches this winter taken 19 wickets at 26.31 with an economy of 2.97 and a Strike rate of 53.
His wickets per match (4.75) average economy and strike rate are all equal or better than his career stats. (the Econ being the same)
Anyone who claims The way he's bowled this winter he wouldn't get in the bangla teamDoesn't have a scooby doo what they are talking about.

Good work BCM, hopefully this will bring the crowds back
Spot on dougy - Swann is a class act - he may have had a bit of a fallow period but what player doesn't. Swann would get into any test side in the world.
and that includes bob willis who I usually have a lot of time for but has talked complete nonsense about Swann all winter
Well done pauliow. Didn't see that coming. I think Eng were about 1.6 when you posted.
Thanks 1.01. Just didnt think that we would win but also didnt think we would lose by so much! A nice gesture from BCM though and very much appreciated.
well done pauliow, great shout
still many questions to be answered from englands batting line up, very flaky indeed over the winter. looking forward to the next one, should be a cracker.
250 green to 20 green in twenty minutes on the final day here for me

Thanks Chelsea. I wouldnt normally be on the forum during the day but have a day off as am going fishing with my son in our newly acquired dinghy. Hope my luck holds
Chelsea_blue - you think you had it bad? Try £545 green on SL to £72 red after lunch on the final day.
Couldn't help but have a rant on another thread. Allows me to cleanse myself of these evil spirits and move on quickly!
