Is K-A Payne favourite because she's the best? Or just because of patriotic money distorting the odds?
I seem to remember her coming fourth in an event that was on the TV earlier this year. No idea which though.

Hopefully she can get away so the others won't be pulling her feet
she won't make it hard for you to follow, normally gets on the front and leads so you will know where you stand

Have no idea about this event but the fav has gone from 2.5 to 1.8 already despite everyone still bunched up. 'Expert' saying its unusually closely bunched even 1/4 way through Have laid at 1.8
from what i've seen of these it usually comes to down to a sprint over the last 200 metres. it doesn't really get strung out like you might expect over such a long distance
Betting on this,listening to the commentators,you deserve everything you(wont)get.
Laying a favourite who should be 2/1 ish at 1.8 this early when all her rivals are still there seems logical to me. She has since went above evens. Her interview tape to me sounded downbeat and disclosed soome problems with her preparation.

In fairness to KAP, I get the idea from her interviews that she really doesn't like doing this either. Reckon if she gets gold here, she may jack it in and look for a career in television instead. Though if I'm honest, I'm not sure that two hours sitting alongside Matt Baker would be any less mind-numbing!

Payne was over 2/1 last week with some bookies, I layed her at 2.2.
She's had a lot of injuries in the past 12 months, so she's probably not going to be in the best shape she's ever been in.
At least she's not getting stung by dozens of jellyfish in this one..

There are some events in the Olympics where you've got to say fairplay to all of them, this event is brutal, I hope they all walk around as a group and take the deserved applause afterwards.

I did a triathlon with half mile swim in Pacific - genuinely thought I might die - can't even begin to think what 6 mile swim in open water with no turns is like - let alone racing it.Huge respect for these women.

The coverage of that race was diabolical.
The comms called it 1000mts to go when the gap seemed to close to nothing. Think there was a lot less to go at that stage and the picture angle was deceptive.
The Yank matched at 1.37 and was never ahead.

Got a nice lay at 1.53 on Anderson 10m from the finish. It's a ridiculous event, swimming in dirty water is horrible
Yeah the comms well and truly got that wrong, could've sworn in the run in they said there was about 7 minutes to go, less than 3 minutes later it was over.

It was never a banker rick, favourite but it's a random event even if we've been a bit let down in the swimming
hard enough betting on this with pictures. Not sure i would fancy betting on it listening on the wireless.

Seem to remember the commentary for this event in Beijing being an absolute farce as well
they should have stuck Balding in thee water with a life jacket and microphone - could have acted as buoy and done the commentary at the same time.

can only assume moorhouse and jameson were not near the finish. they were obviously just commentating from the tv pictures
They were using the TV hence the moan when they switched to the pack behind, but doesn't make a difference, they'd be calling the wrong thing if they had perfect view
