Hate these threads, but Taoufik Makhloufi just thrown out of Games for not trying
Those in the know will know in what he's running

Plenty of under 10s and Top 3, etc available

Don't judge me if not true, though

Both BBC and ReAlgeria's Taoufik Makhloufi has been excluded from the Olympic Games for not trying in Monday morning's 800m heat.

Makhloufi, who won Sunday's 1500m semi-final, was forced to race in the 800m after Algeria failed to withdraw him from it before Sunday's deadline.

The 24-year-old completed barely 200m of his heat before quitting.

The International Association of Athletics Federations said he had "not provided a bona fide effort" and would be "excluded from further events".

More to follow.

Be careful, there will definitely be an appeal.

"The IAAF spokeswoman said he could be reinstated for Tuesday's 1,500m final if he could get a medical certificate from a local doctor"

bets after the announcement bound to be voided
Report NonShy.. August 6, 2012 2:12 PM BST
Unmatched bets will be cancelled at the start of the first event and this market will be turned in-play.Thereafter, unmatched bets will not be cancelled at any time. If a listed athlete/team fails to start the event, all bets will be void. Any other non-runners will not affect the market. Dead Heat rules apply.

True NonShy, sorry about that one.
Fortunately no-one has traded on that market
Report Biscuit1979 August 6, 2012 2:15 PM BST
Why wasn't he allowed to simply withdraw from the race?

Bets will not be voided. The gamble as already stated is how the appeal goes.

Surely it's like the manipulative badminton players easing off to improve their chances?

(However the Brit who fell off his bike continued)

August 6th 15:00. `Match Bets` for progress in a competition or event with multiple heats or rounds are determined by the competitor or team which qualifies to the furthest round (whether it takes part in the further round or not) or with the best score, time or finishing position in the final or same heat of that competition or event. If the relevant competitors or teams fail to qualify in the same round of the competition but in different heats then dead-heat rules will apply.

The panic laying from the BBC announcement seems over.
Settling back to a reasonable (appeal pending) price now.

Wouldn't like to be the Top 3 layer at 9s for a chunk, because if he runs, although the Gold was unlikely,
a medal seems an odds-on chance

i've layed at 8.8 and 6.4 to place first three.

can't believe they will reinstate after kicking him out....if they do i'll have egg on my face
