I find Armstrong an interesting one. As far as I'm concerned, he's still innocent since he hasn't failed a drugs test. But the Tour is a team sport and some of his teammates have failed tests. Should that then mean he is stripped of his titles since they drug cheats were helping him out massively.

Errrrr..... I start a thread about two medallists who have served drugs bans and I am accusing every athlete of cheating??? ![]() |

donny - re-testing last 20 years will never happen... costs a fortune to test for drugs never mind 20 years and the proceeding potential scandal

you harped on about wiggins ... no proof ... not even the slightest of suspicion except he won the TDF and other cyclists before have won the TDF and been caught cheating.

some jobs allow 4 weeks holiday and 6 weeks sick leave per year, its amazing how many people ensure they use all of their sick leave !!!
allowing one failed drugs test will be abused too but yeah, in general give people a chance |

'some previous olympic samples have been re tested using todays technology and results not published'
In the recent BBC doc about the 88 final that tester said he went back and looked at the samples and considered exposing it. You could tell by his reaction that a vast number were positive and for that reason opted against it and let it lie |

got to consider that if drugs were not on the banned list and were being used is that cheating?
|
|
By:
Some yes. Some no. Athletes were taking drugs, and other methods - like blood transfusion - knowing it wasn't banned but that it was performance enhancing.

By:
easy to invent a new drug, so yeah ban them all and make the ban retrospective

I'm no chemist but
Heredia: Designer drugs are composed of several different chemicals that trigger the desired reaction. At the end of the chain I change one or two molecules in such a way that the entire structure is undetectable for the doping testers. |

interesting Don... heredia says given one injection but GH, insulin is a different injection to testosterone
insulin/GH is subcutaneous steroids is intramuscular not sure if marion jones got done for steroids/testosterone? and i've never heard of anyone taking testosterone orally... although that is not saying it can't be done. EPO - drug of the cyclist |

epo would have been a good drug for footballers, distance runners
beetroot juice is an interesting one, should that be banned, http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/health-and-families/beetroot-juice-bolsters-athletic-performance-study-finds-2306407.html |
