Wiggins' achievements are the best, but the papers are really going after Ennis as the iconic Olympic figure.

The more I think about it,the more the coup is on.
With so many to choose from from the Olympics ,there votes are going to be diluted.

If Murray had won Wimbledon and two golds he would have to be close. If Brad W does not win it then it is a disgrace. I am a Jock and followed cycling for many years, watching Robert Miller while 8/9 years old in le tour. Banker, only farah can beat him

Am I the only one who finds the love for Ennis a bit OTT. Fair play to the girl and all that, great performance, but the media coverage and general marketing of her seems to overshadow everything else just a little too much for my liking.

Wiggins far and away the deserving winner.  But will the wider public appreciate that?

That's not a spoonerism about Christopher Biggins is it?

Someone said to me that Wiggins was absolutely bound to win it.

But Cav won it last year, and after last night I am thinking that Ennis odds look very generous.

Don't think Murray is a good bet because people don't feel inclined to vote for him much. No footballer stands a dog's chance and rightly so.

Wiggo is currently 1.44 on here, Ennis next and then Farrah and Murray. Nobody else in the reconing

Perception and voter motivation are the only things that count for spoty.

Think its done more than most sports in getting rid of cheats.
Recognised the problem and its a lot cleaner now,few still try it on,but few and far between now.

I know that was tongue in cheek, but it will be an absolute travesty if any footballer is on the nominated list.

Think winning the races he has this year as well as Olympic gold is far better achievement than winning the Heptathlon.
In fact i know it is.

Oersonally think it a travesty if ANY footaller EVER won it.
No longer a sport as far as i am concerned,certainly not compared to what we are seeing in London.

yep,Phelps for me as well.

Wiggins has to boss it for me. He has done something that no Brit has ever done before. And then topped it off by winning an Olympic gold on home turf, to pretty much get the ball rolling.

Ennis' achievement is fantastic and in any other year would probably win it. Farah could win it any other year. As could Murray - especially if he wins the US - but he's not overly loved. Pendleton will get a lot of support.

Will be plenty I've missed off there who would be deserving of winning this in any other year.
