Hi Guys,

Watching the Olympics on BBC from Ireland I have been shocked by quite how biased the coverege has been, jingoistic bordering on xenophobic with a scant disregard for the brilliant performances by athletes not repreenting Team GB.commentator choosing to shout "go on becky" rather than be informative, isos on the british swimmers during races etc

Just curious as to what the feeling is in Britain as regards this?

Do you think the coverage would be different in any other country?

I have developed a new reflex action...

hit the mute button whenever Denise Lewis starts speaking

Very funny the obvious friction between Thorpe and Lineker when he was in the studio. Thorpe was dancing rings around Lineker and our Gary wasn't best chuffed.

thats absolute bull, the english are the least sporting of nations, summed up when claire balding accused the chinese swimmer of cheating.

why did'nt the bitch make that accusation when the GB cyclers were breaking WR's without breaking sweat yesterday? looks even more suspicious if you ask me

By:

claire balding did nothing of the sort

it was an American swimming coach which was hilarious... like the yanks are clean !

it always amazes me how much coverage ireland get on bbc compared to france, our other near neighbours

but if irish people can receive bbc at home i guess that'll be why

even though we are entitled to a bit of jingoism for our £120 licence fee

Don't see what the problem is....there's no doubt whatsoever that the English are God's chosen race and it is our destiny to win....all failures are due to dubious tactics from johnny foreigner.

It's no different to any other country if you watch it there and no where near as biased as Australias broadcasts which are hilarious.

That sir, is one of the best quotes i've seen on this forum and just about sums up what the general consensus is on English people.

I've watched sports in many countries and everywhere is the same, a bias towards that particular country. I found Australia and the US to be so biased you would not think there were any other nations competing. That said, the BBC coverage has been extensive, something for everyone.

I like Boardman but the other guy is useless. His brain is about 5 minutes behind his mouth. Called Clancey the leader of the omnium after the points race but it turns out he's fifth!

Clear agenda to persist with the 'everything is amazing at London 2012'
line.

Getting pretty tedious. BBC - let the viewer judge whether it's good or not. Just report what happens please.

Err it is the British Broacasting Company - op you do realise that other coutries don't get the pics (other than those nearby) and each country has their own tv company doing the same?

Every country has the same pics, or so the BBC would have you think. They are not BBC pictures, just BBC commentary.

I'm amazed the swimming comms have a job - constant giggling between each other and very little insight given.

On the flip side Boardman's massive amount of detailed knowledge really comes through and enhances the coverage.

brendan foster was terrible tonight

really bad, talked incessantly about what mo was thinking and feeling...

fack off, you are guessing , just describe the fecking race

I thought Mo was incredible but Rupp's performance deserved more from the Beeb.

MJ touched on it but the others in the studio weren't interested and just called him Mo's training partner about 10 times. For Rupp to beat the Africans was astounding.

He's one of only 3 non Africans to have broken 27 minutes. Chris Solinsky (USA) and Mo being the other 2.

As for Lewis and 'boy oh boy' Jackson, it's not really their fault for being so bland. Broadcasters are obsessed with employing big names to summarise and few can do it well.

Swimming commentators were awful,Brendan Foster has always been awful.
The problem we have with the Olympics is we dont have enough proper commentators so we end up using ex competitors who dont know how to commentate,so basically they end up cheering on the brits and not doing what they should be doing. They are better when their is no brit in a race, but when their is one....bloody awful!
My son lives in the USA and he says that the Yanks are even worse than us!! So it aint just us.
