Sports that are decided by judges are not really sports to me. You can't fix athletics or cycling results unless you dope all of the other teams.

Hey lads I think ogogo has just lost. Not sure but I think they got countback figures which were added up wrong so decsion should be overturned. Nothing official yet

15-10 Ogogo? your having a laugh, the german won that fight, anthony was out on his feet in the 3rd round.

To be honest the judging in boxing has been p1ss poor for as long as I have been watching the Olympics (40 odd years). Yes Ogogo and Joshua were lucky in their first bouts but there have been some very strange markings. Tonight Joshua knocked the Chinese guy all over the shop in round 2 but only won 8-6!
For all the attempts at moving averages etc, amateur boxing seems tainted by dodgy judging. The only way of doing it properly is to have a neutral panel of judges reviewing each round using all the TV angles to ensure all punches are recorded, not just those visible to the judges in real time. However, this would take about 5 minutes to resolve after each fight and this would be too long. Maybe we should do away with boxing? ps Phil can't agree with you re the second Ogogo fight. While German looked like he was doing loads, he was taking a lot of good punches from Ogogo. |

yep that 2nd round scoring in the joshua fight defied credibility. he put him on the deck and did everything but stop him. should have been a 5 point gap minimum.
only dipped in and out of the boxing but nearly every time i have i've seen strange scoring savannah marshall won the last round hands down this afternoon but the judges somehow gave it to her opponent by 2 points |

At least on the old scoring system it was visible what the judges were scoring. This present system is spectaator unfriendly and secretive
