why all the money for agnel 100m?

got to be absolutely massive value somewhere in this market IF magnessun is still under the weather, cos agnel wont be in the top 3

he swam the fastest leg in the 4 x 100m relay and romped away with the 200m

he could easily win,  is in top form

Didn't look like just a distance swimmer when he lead the 200m out

and when he surged past Lochte on the last leg of the relay

relay swims mean nothing. he clearly drafted off lochte for 75m. lochte is a 400m swimmer. the 2 guys agnel beat in the 200m are 1500m fav and 2nd fav. the one 100m race he has actually been in he got clobbered and his time is 10 or 11 of 16. only spitz and van den hoegenband have doubled at 100/200 but things have moved on and its a lot more specialised nowadays. that also hides the fact that besides biondi, no one else has even medalled across 100m/200m. no way is this guy going to beat the real sprinters

100/200 swim is like doubling in 400/800 run. it cannot happen. the giant cuban excepted

so how did Phelps win 8 golds in 8 days with 8 world records?

8 golds 8 WR's 8 days - 100m fly, 200 free. didnt even bother swimming the 100. that surely has to tell you something.

Re Agnel..isn't there a chance h was sluggish this morning after he exertions of the night before..?? Looked mighty impressive so far and a chance he could reproduce in an open looking final...

he might also have only done enough to qualify to conserve energy

3.9!! presumably on the back of an impressive looking swim against other 200m+ slowboats. cmon people, 3rd in his heat 5th in his semi. it doesnt get EASIER as you progress through the rounds!!! At these speeds he is NOT holding back. they are all going just about as fast as they can. gl to all.

I backed Agnel before the SF at 2/1 on the high st, thinking he was saving a bit in the heats.

Wasn't impressed with him in the SF and am now tempted to lay him at 1.6 for a medal.

Graham, I used to swim the 50 and the 100 and I can tell you there is no such thing as holding back at that speed. Unless you're Bolt perhaps. If Agnel had been 2 10ths slower he wouldnt be in the final, and you cannot possibly judge how many paople you are beating or what time you are going to do.

GL, but i would obviously try and get some back with a top 3 lay.

I'd wrote of the WIN bet on Agnel after the SF, but your analysis convinced me to lay him for a medal at 1.6.
