on 5live the other night, there was a guy on saying that Tom Slingsby was a cert in the Mens Laser Sailing (he was Aussie though so may have been biased, although did sound clued up). Are there any sailing aficionados who could comment? He's best priced 10-11 currently (lads)

Will not be risking any money until I see them running , but Mary Keitany in the marathon is possibly the best female runner I have ever seen ,( starting with Fanny Blankers and Shirley Strickland way back but discounting Flo Jo for well documented reasons ).
Glad in a way that Paula is not running , the sight of them running side by side would be off putting for any Paula fans ( big one myself , but those days are gone forever ) . |
|
By:
Will check her out Kelly good luck.

22-y-o Dejen Gebremeskel in the 5000m.
He beat Mo Farah in The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix 3000m race in 2011 running the entire race with only one shoe. ![]() |

Wilson Kiprotich or Emmanuel Mutai have to be good shouts for the marathon. Current odds at 4s and 7s respectively. Not much liquidity in the market so might be able to ask for better odds. The third Kenyan Abel Kirui can be got at 7 but again no lay odds so can maybe ask for much better. Of the three I'd go for Kiprotich.
Other than them I can't see beyond an Ethiopian or Samuel Tsegay from Eritrea. Some long odds on some of them. If nothing else some Dutching could make you a tidy profit. |

There is a good bet in the 69k class of the Olympic boxing (welterweights)
Favourite from UKR is 7/4 because he won the World Champs in Baku last year, however he was lucky in 2 bouts i saw and the scoring was suspect (Yes in Boxing, who'd have thought it). Sapiyev from KAZ is a great price at 4-1. Real class act, lost in World Champs in Final but the judges must've been smoking something or were biased in favour of the UKR fighter & 2012 favourite). If Sapiyev doesn't make the final i will be very surprised. The Russian fighter at 6-1 is a good cover, also somehow lost to that UKR one at the Worlds, again this Olympic fav was lucky to get a verdict. The UK fighter has no chance and is priced at 9s, at the worlds he got stopped by a guy the KAZ fighter hammered in the first round. |

Darlo - the Kenyan marathon runner is called Kipsang (not Kiprotich). He won the London marathon this year and missed the WR in Frankfurt last October. I agree he is a very good bet for gold; reminds me of the late Sammy Wanjiru, the reigning Olympic champion.
Marathon used to be a slower tactical affair until 2008. Now it's a flat out race from the gun. We'll see something like 2.06-2.07 for the win which counts out all but Kenya and Ethiopea. |
|
By:
*missed the WR in Frankfurt last October by 4 seconds

Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich isn't it?
