What happened in America to Mr George Floyd was inhumane and has no place in society and rightfully condemned throughout the world; every black person has the same right to a life as the next person. However, I think the BLM march has been hijacked by the extreme right to promote their own cause.
I think the effects of Covid-19 on BAME is an entirely different issue. Was there any similar "assertion or comparison" eg Covid-19 on BAME during the invasion of Iraq or the Falklands War ie the proportion of deaths in terms of ethnicity, occupation, type ofhousing, etc? What about Syria? The pictures of inhabitants having a picnic or playing football in a park in Hackney and the congregation of guests at a wedding ceremony or funeral up North during lockdown, could that be given consideration? I firmly believe there will always be racism, discrimination, nepotism, cronyism, etc, in every walk of life and every country; equal opportunities are never accorded (accordingly) esp if one is not equipped academically, possesses the necessary experience, etc. These shortcomings have been and will be part of society and life, I firmly believe. |

29 countries, more than 125 million girls and women
FGM/C is concentrated in a swath of countries from the Atlantic Coast to the Horn of Africa, with wide variations in the percentage of girls and women cut, both within and across countries .https://www.unicef.org/spanish/protection/files/00-FMGC_infographiclow-res.pdf Black Girls Matter ? |

I meant far left.
I think opportunities are aplenty in this country if one is willing and prepared to graft for it eg seek academic qualification, job experience, etc. Otherwise truckloads and boatloads of foreigners (legal and illegal) would not still be entering the UK daily. I also think there are many differences between the ethnic groups in the UK, the most distinct is ambition and motivation eg 1st comer/mover advantage had by the Afro-Caribbeans have not been utilised and maximised; instant gratification and self-entitlement have not helped. As such, their economic wealth and political influences have been overtaken by the South Asians who arrived 1/2 a century later; the Chinese are mainly interested in a quiet life, and commerce. I firmly believe unless one is prepared to pull one's weight one's position and influence will be compromised, and under-achievement will be the eventual result. |
