A 20-year-old man has died, a woman has been raped and three people have been stabbed during two illegal "quarantine raves" that attracted 7,000 people.

Thousands flocked to Daisy Nook Country Park and Carrington in Greater Manchester late on Saturday.

The man at the country park died of a suspected drug overdose and the stabbings and the attack on an 18-year-old woman took place in Carrington.

Police said the illegal raves have had "tragic consequences".

Assistant Chief Constable Chris Sykes said condemned them as a clear breach of coronavirus legislation, adding officers "were met with violence, resulting in items being thrown and a police car being vandalised".

He asked "anyone with footage that could assist our enquiries" to give it to police.

Meanwhile 10,000 are in clear breach of coronavirus legislation in Brighton yesterday and Sussex police did not fine any.

We need consistent policing. Either crowds are illegal or they are not.

Coronavirus legislation was smashed to pieces by cummings.

Combined with the huge racial bias in the statistics of the 10,000+ fines handed out before the cummings debacle.

It's clear the legislation is not working as intended and to continue to enforce it selectively will only lead to a loss of face.

Is there a racial bias in people breaking the rules or in people who break the rules getting fines?

@IT

As with pretty much all statistical anomalies that aired by the media. I ask myself why?

I ask myself the why's what's and wherefores because understanding those helps put the naked statistics in a context.

So I also pondered the same question.

It's not a question that's likely to be answered with proper data.

I speculated on a few possibilities, but as I recognise them as just speculation, there's not much merit in me
discussing them on a forum where so many people seem to have fixed views, unchangeable by verifiable facts.
