what about,what if
one statue which has been debated for 20 years has been torn down, the powell statue has all been about the police ,council not a single person has turned up at statue demamding it comes down, their,s discussions,debates going on about other statues,whats wrong with that,exct same discussions that went on over jimmy Saville,s statue but the right go straight in to what about debate |

I think it's safe to say that the "Progressive" protestors WON'T be going back in time as far as investigating the slave-owning founders of any peaceful religions out there.
Nor will they be looking to demolish any newspaper businesses, originally used in Manchester, that prospered on the back of cotton picked by slaves. |

I welcome debate on British history.
We did some pretty sh1te things if you want to pull them up We did some great things, if you want to pull them up More folk are rather complex characters, we all have flaws. Learning that bad folk can do good things and good folk can do Things is part of growing up. All this shutting down debate as anti democratic is simply nonsense. Debate has been happening and will continue, if a few statues are removed then so be it, but we don't want a referendum to remove a statue of a bloke that put up 100 years ago and nobody remembers who decided to put it there. Folk. Like Churchill will never be removed because he is a national hero who saved our country at our hour of need. Folk like Coulston should be in a museum, at best. There's a few others who bought there place on our streets that need To be shifted into museum with coulston I hope people enjoy the debates and learn from them, I love history. |

If you debate the Rioters rather than the history then
you let them win. Churchill boarded up for the weekend, for his own protection as he's been a target for nutters for years as the nutters get the publicity they seek. Doubtless alternatives are being drawn up and news reporters will be seeking to get their cameras into prime sites to broadcast riots live on Saturday. |
