Britain's actual coronavirus death toll could be half of the 50,000 already recorded, according to one expert.

Professor Karol Sikora, a former World Health Organization (WHO) cancer adviser, said doctors may put the virus on death certificates if there was 'any hint' it could have been the cause, without hard proof.

And many of the victims who died at the height of the pandemic could have died by the summer anyway because they were in old age, he said.

- quelle surprise...

In comparison, Germany — which has recorded fewer than 10,000 deaths — is much stricter about classifying fatalities as being down to Covid-19.

German medics can only say a death is down to Covid-19 if the clinical team involved in the end-of-life care certify that's what they believe was to blame.

Professor Sikora described the UK's system of recording deaths as 'woeful' because it still uses pieces of paper which are passed around a lot of people.

It's amazing how gullible people are, just staggering.

And why is the daily mail censoring the news that Elvis has just died of covid on the moon?

Winter excess mortality:
These statistics will be released on 27 November 2020 9:30am.

Recent excess mortality could be for a whole host of reasons, not least cancelled treatment.

this is a month's old story now. they were putting everything down to corona. so if somebody had pneumonia but they also had coronavirus and they died in that time period they said the cause of death was coronavirus. it justified all the hysteria and the lockdown measures. it's counterintuitive but the powers that be actually wanted high numbers of deaths from corona to justify the pan(dem)ic.

Goose, I know a gent who’s gone blind in one eye because of cancelled treatment. That’s very serious but not a death. It gives an idea though of the carnage that’s been allowed to happen.

Could any of those excess deaths be down to lockdown itself? Heart attacks? Cancer? Loneliness?

There is no doubt we have overstated covid deaths here imo, but why? I simply cannot understand the almost deliberate laxness in attributing deaths here.

1,800 RTA deaths a year compared to 100,000 heart attacks. Not sure you are comparing like with like.

Sorry to hear that, and little doubt that cancelled treatments are causing real problems and fatalities now and storing them up for the future.
My father has had two MRI scans cancelled.

If you are interested, there was a report issued by the ONS just last week that is the first chapter in attempting to gain insight in to the high number of excess deaths.

The full effects will not be known for years to come, and even then there will be large elements of attribution.

Professor Karol has been offering thinly veiled support of the government throughout.  Some might say he is a tory apologist

Class sizes btw are yet another thing continental europe does better than us....about 5 pupils less.

NEW
Last week 14 English schools reported acute respiratory outbreaks to Public Health England, 9 confirmed tested as Covid.

So last weeks increase to 15 not a one off (0-4 in previous lockdown weeks, normally 0 in June in previous years
