This current nonsense is crazy. Shame that most people do not understand who and what they should really be protesting about and against

Incredible to me that the confederate flag is all over the place in the USA, and bases named after their generals.
Imagine a Union soldier in early 1865, after years of horrific war, looking ahead 150 years, and seeing these enemy flags everywhere. Would think they must have lost.. Be like having British bases named after Rommel, Manstein et al |

Is it still OK to lust over Daisy Duke?

They allow the Union Jack to be flown in despite beating us during the war of independence.
We allow the French Flag to be flown here despite beating them in many wars and being invaded and enslaved by them in 1066. History is part of all of us. You can either learn from it warts and all or pretend it never happened. |
|
By:
Not sure if contemporary flags of nation states are a good comparison.
The point about pretending that it never happened couldn't be sillier anyway. Nazi flags aren't flown in Germany on a regular basis and nobody pretends it never happened. Funny thing is that the flag that's widely used as the confederate flag...was never actually an official flag of the confederates. History and heritage my bum. |

An indication of just how thick Americans are, flying a flag that was flown by traitors to the USA.

You only need to listen to trump and his press speakers to realise how daft the place is.
How can changing the name of a fort undermine the product that comes out of it? Yeah trump, America ‘won both wars’ on the name on the sign outside. What a tool. |
|
By:
Trumpers always say nonsense like that. It's like when they stylised NFL players kneeling as being disrespectful towards the flag - when it blatantly wasn't - in an attempt to shut down the peaceful protest that they now claim to be fully supportative of.
It's patriotic correctness in an attempt to shut down debate. |

Be like having British bases named after Rommel, Manstein et al It's hardly the same thing comparing a civil war which divivded a nation with a war between nation states. The alternative is you can act oppresively and ban anything that may be seen as a symbol of the other side and have daft situations where national dress and tartan are banned for 36 years. |

Let’s remember that Britain did lead the way in the abolition of slavery, but in the American Civil War were more aligned with the Confederacy than The Union.
On a number of occasions Britain almost entered the war on the side of the south, on the basis that the rebels had a right to be free (to keep slaves haha what an oxymoron). But really it was about the supply of cotton, and the resulting cheapness of it being laboured by slaves. |

Remove the flag but don't ban the klan!

Karma? One of the statues these knuckle draggers pulled down landed on one of them and now seriously ill in hospital.
It shows the level of genius, you stand directly in front of it pulling it towards you, what do you think will happen? About the same level of intellect as sitting on a tree branch sawing the tree side. # of tears wept = 0. |

The war was actually a war between the states and not a civil war Amercia would on become a single country after the war.
The war comes about because the southern states wanted free trade with the rest of the world but this would have been ruinous for the industrial north |
|

Does Westminster have lots of statues of Scottish leaders that fought in the Scottish Wars of Independence btw.?
|
|
By:
Scotland has a few Australian actor statues these days

How soon people forget. Five years ago the TV networks banned the Dukes of Hazzard because the Duke boys car has a confederate flag painted on the roof.
Then it was "Cops" and Gone with the Wind. Now they want Paw Patrol taken off TV because the dog is a cop!! |

The British came damn close to going to war with America, and it was the Union that was the focus of that preliminary order to 'attack any America ship where ever it may be' or words to that effect following The Trent Affair.
The Confederacy saw themselves as independent, a point Britain saw as inevitable and continued to trade and supply them. Britain were more interested in cheap cotton and the continued trade in sugar, thats the top and bottom of it. |

Everyone's favourite Englishman two years ago talking about Jimmy Savile, the Confederacy and statues in October 2017. |
|
By:
It was clear whos side Britain was really on even though they showed neutrality officially.
They broke Union blockades to supply The Confederacy, strengthened Military in Canada with plans for a Washington invasion incase required and after the Civil War, had to pay The Union compensation for the damage done by the warships they built and supplied for the Rebels. |
|
By:
Britain didn't break the Union blockade, that would have been a war declaration.
|

By:
They want to get you out in the streets so they can have their cop mobsters kick the living daylights out of you
Organising a "protest" and telling them where you're going to be, what time you're going to be there and sticking everyone in a little area of London (Like Tommys doing at the weekend) ??? these people will not fight you in a straight up fist fight ffs, they are goading you into taking to the streets where they have you in open Its lulling you tactics 101 ffs |

BREAKING NEWS
Nascar have decided not to ban all the confederate flags, they have reached a compromise where they fly the white flag of confederate surrender on the penultimate lap to signal the last lap of the race. True story |
|
By:
The people making these decisions aren't nationalists and have been put in their positions by the higher elites, none of them were "elected" at all and has such should be politely told to get out and if that doesn't shift them, head in there tooled to the facking eye balls and ask them firmly one last time to get the fack out, if they dare to question that order well.. drag them out by their facking necks and string them up. The end of any aggro.
