A further 12 people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 in Scotland in a day, First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said.

It brings the total number of coronavirus-linked deaths there to 2,434.

That figure is lower than the National Records of Scotland (NRS) figure of 4,000 deaths released a few minutes ago.

The NRS figures, which are released weekly, include those in which Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Horrendous figures from the NRS Which Important Jimmy is Blatantly Ignoring Shocked

case, all four home nations will have questions to answer, no comfort whatsoever in being a little bit better than anyone else in this regard

as for your specific query, the UK reported figure is on an "all settings basis"

The latest figure for Scotland is indeed 4,000. The graph above is percentages to provide a country by country comparison.

Here is a table with the underlying data for each of the four home nations

Returning to the daily UK figure, that is for deaths with a confirmed test only.
Hence the lower number than that shown above.

PP and Kenny among others have spent the last 3 months telling everyone what a bad job Boris is doing and not a word against Sturgeon. Why is that I wonder? Confused

Why do you think opinion polls are the appropriate measure ?

Do statistics on care home deaths and testing rates not matter ? Scotland worse than England in both categories.

The national media is only interested in blaming the UK government, and hence there is no questioning of the SNP.

In fairness Sturgeon has a good way of dealing with any criticism of her govermnment over Covid19 by instantly calling it "politicsed nonsense". Then criticising the UK government 2 minutes later for their handling of it.

Excess deaths in care homes in England & Wales for weeks 11 to 22 is 26,211 (101%), 52,189 deaths in total.
Excess deaths in care homes in Scotland for weeks 12 to 23 is 2,442 (82%), 5,416 deaths in total.

Horrendous figures in both countries, but not accurate to state that the figures in Scotland are  worse than in England.
