A group including doctors, nurses, scientists and Coronavirus survivors say they may pursue a private prosecution against Boris Johnson's top aide following his trip to Durham from London

Dominic Cummings could face private prosecution for breaking lockdown rules.

A group including doctors, nurses, scientists and Coronavirus survivors - backed by a team of lawyers - has set out plans for the Prime Minister's top aide to be reinvestigated.

If sufficient evidence is found that he broke the rules, the group say they may pursue a private prosecution.

The Mirror exclusively revealed Mr Cummings had travelled from London to Durham after his wife fell ill.

Mr Cummings denies any wrongdoing, and said he went to Durham so he and his wife had access to childcare for their young son if they fell ill.

Later, he drove 30 miles to Barnard Castle, which he said was to test whether he was fit to be behind the wheel before heading back to London.

The group is headed by Mike Schwarz, of law firm Hodge, Jones and Allen and Matthew Ryder QC of Matrix.

Mr Schwarz said the group's goal was to put pressure on police to reopen their investigation.

He said: "It seems, across the country that people believed Dominic Cummings broke the law, and put lives at risk, in what he did by leaving London, his conduct in Durham, his disregard for the spirit and letter of the regulations and his actions’ impact on public health messaging.

Andy Turgood, a mental health nurse from Hull, who is supporting the campaign, said: "NHS and social care workers have risked their lives and feel badly let down.

"It is also clear that the lockdown is now breaking down in part because of what happened and that in turn will put more lives at risk.

"I know many colleagues will also want to support this."

Do people think that the BLM protestors would have stayed home had the media not savaged Cummings for his Durham trip?

I doubt the law he broke would stand up in court of law so prosecution looks doomed anyway.

Probably most expensive eye test in history

000's marauding the streets potentially spreading COVID everywhere , and not one of them appearing to care a jot.

In fact they revelled in it - potentially killing others.

Why isn't anybody taking action against the organisers ?

Selfish hypocrites of the highest order.

Organisers?

Police have said lack of organisers was one of biggest problems with policing
the protest.
