Face covering on train to Scottish or Welsh border.....then you can remove it.

You really could not make this nonsense up.

If say 30 minutes on a tram , train or bus needs a covering .....why does 8 hours in an office not?

Not to have a united approach for all of the UK was asinine .

How he can spout this sh1t and also tell people who have no experience of the very dangerous pursuit ,that is cycling on the main roads to go to work on their bike.

They have to maintain the level of fear in the population. Totally pathetic plan. I just wish everyone would ignore it but you know they will all tow the line like good little boys and girls.

sixtwosix, when's the last time you crossed a border on a train? And if you do in the next few weeks, will you take your face covering off?

Didn't the UK goverment say they were next to useless when a lot more virus was out in the community?

Why backtrack now?

They did , also worried the public might not adhere to distancing and hand washing .......gone out of the window.

Seriously, what's wrong with you people. That was the SAGE advice to government. Now SAGE are saying there's a small benefit. But let's just have another moan up about something that won't affect us.

If the use of face "coverings" was strongly advised in Mid March, would it have saved lives? undoubtly imo, this measure like plane quarrantine is just way too late, what the fook is wrong with them?

Cider,no moaning, facts, the plebs weren't supposed to take the masks from nhs.that simple.

Are you claiming that the SAGE advice was that the public should wear face coverings in March and April ?

Why wasn't it?

SAGE were saying the science doesn't support it. This week people are moaning that the gvnt is lifting some lockdown too early against scientific advice. Your default mode is just find anything you can to blame the government for.

You are exempt from wearing one provided you do some protesting/rioting on your journey

Maybe the tannoy on the train will play "Scotland the brave" or "Land of my fathers" as it crosses the relevant border. Sign language will also have to be provided on the relevant transportation obviously.

Now SAGE are saying there's a small benefit.

How on earth can be that stated as something not to be challenged.
What measuring technique is used to show a small benefit...... there simply cannot be a measure.

Poor bus driver telling some old dear in the rain who has forgot a covering ,they can't get on.
Shapps is a buffoon , who won't be on crowded public transport and I doubt cycling to work in busy roads .

Why the u turn Cider? it isn't even advice but now compulsory, your argument is tantamount to SAGE saying,"oh we don't know",well they should feckin know.

Not sure about funerals would need to see a rule that allows families to be exempt if they do some rioting/protesting on the way

If you ask me a lot of the SAGE advice has been useless. However, politicians have little option but to follow 'the science' when lives are on the line.

It's not my argument. Literally SAGE were saying the science was mixed and not enough evidence to definitively support face coverings in public.

that bloke on sky from outset simon from warrick uni, been very good but turning out he,s having a shocker,

couple of weeks time he could be stood wearing a mask a metre apart from someone Laugh

Read the SAGE minutes.

If you are upset at the advise they gave complain to them.

If you are upset at people not following the rules complain to the police/government for not enforcing social distancing laws in London yesterday.

The science has been confused re face masks since day 1. Don’t see why it couldn’t have been done earlier as a precaution if it does indeed help a little.

Why would anyone not wear a mask?

Wearing a mask protects others more than it protects you.

I think we all know that would have all have to wear a face mask (which works) rather a home made face covering(which is little short of useless) but could not because the pastas / toilet roll style panic buying would have left the NHS and others in a truly unworkable position.

They did not want public buying them at the expense of healthcare settings.

Remember Macron commandeering all masks in France after the government burnt 1.6bn a few months before?

By:

Part of the negative argument is that the mask itself can harbour the virus.

I think returning to an office is the most likely place that I would catch this.
How many times do people say ' it was like a doctor's surgery in here today' , with coughing and sneezing.

Eight hours in an air conditioned controlled environment would spread it to an entire floor .

I have no intention of ever working in my old office again ....fortunately as in IT developer I can choose this option.

This government are the most clueless in living memory, which takes some doing.

Can you imagine if they'd said in early March that to prevent the spread of the virus we would need quarantining all returning travellers, and face masks on public transport - we'd all have grudgingly acquiesced and admitted that it made common sense.  Now imagine if they'd said we'd wait until the tail end of the pandemic and introduce it in mid-June, everyone would have said they are fkg barking mad.  But that is what they are doing.

Until a vaccine is found, which may be never, or at best years away, we have to live with a degree of manageable risk.  Otherwise you'd never go out for fear of being hit by a car or kidnapped by terrorists.  We take appropriate precautions to protect ourselves from all sorts of daily potential harmful situations; because we're adults and we can make our own common sense calls on daily life.

Shapps, Patel, Hancock etc are worse than losing contestants on the Apprentice.  Ill thought out plans that are hopeless in the real world.  If only they could be fired.

Shapps and Patel? It's like comparing Einstein with dopey from the seven dwarfs.
