That's what this government was all about and those defending them are doing it because they dare not admit to being conned.
I'm just watching Newsnight and a report on care homes, it's heartbreaking.

truth is next general election is 4 years away and the rights and wrongs of the decision making made over the last 10 weeks will be irrelevant as it'd have no impact on that result as it'd be too far in the past, if the election was in the next couple of months however it'd be 50/50 whether he returned as PM. This is why Trump is in trouble with the US election this year, though I think he is keeping his powder dry for attacking creepy joe biden. The main parties over there really have fielded some bizarre characters in recent times.

We still havnt had Russia report published from over 4 years ago

60,000 dead, inquest to follow

Good luck if you think this will be forgotten by next election.

of course it will be forgotten, 4 years is a long time, so much will happen til then.
60000 haven't died, we keep having this discussion it's a fake number because 60000 tested positive from Corona at death, that does not mean it was their cause of death. You have to be balanced on these things, saying 60000 is just pure political tribalism. You're also forgetting the public outpouring when Boris was apparently at deaths doors after nearly dying from it, which personally is something I never believed never even needed oxygen assistance.

This isn't close to being true. We've barely even felt a ripple of the economic impact that is coming, which will be the main driver of affecting votes.

Major won an election at the start of a recession in April 1992, there was a crash in September 1992 and he was behind in every poll for the next 4 years. The crash coming here is likely to be far worse.

By:
darren_discombobulates_sports
When: 04 Jun 20 00:05
the economic crash will not be blamed on Boris, it's just wishful thinking, you cannot compare 92 with these unprecedented times, economies all over the world are going to go through recessions simultaneously because of this pandemic. It will be a much closer race however because Kier Starner is a far more electable candidate than Corbyn, of course you vote for your local MP but many do so really because of who the leader is.

John Major resigned because he was leading a minority government, losing by elections and the faith of the party in general combined with the showmanship and growing popularity of Tony Blair. Just not comparable times.

Economy on the floor.

Donny seems surprised. What did you expect? Another thread revelling in the problems that the pandemic has caused and using it to score cheap points.
BTW Starmer will need to get some charisma as a present on his birthday or he'll fare not much better than Corbyn at the polls.

Boris lost his nerve back in March and destroyed the economy due to poor scientific advise.

Trump did the same. He admitted today it took just ten minutes for him to be convinced to shut things down. Why did he not seek a second opinion?

Neither Boris or Trump are the type to admit that their decision to have lockdowns of healthy younger people was wrong.

The best they can hope for is the fit/healthy will be confident enough to get back to work and get spending. I think the horrific Floyd killing and the fuse about it may actually help them as it is getting people out. If there is no spike it will prove once and for all that it is safe for the healthy to get back to work.

I blame Boris for believing the SAGE scientists and not consulting other scientists.

I blame Boris for so far not admitting he made a mistake believing the SAGE scientists now we know that virus in the UK peaked before lockdown.

If Boris could admit this we could get the young/healthy part of the population back to work properly tomorrow.

I agree YHTL. The lockdown and deaths that followed it due to lack of NHS services have been terrible.

Schools closing was a disgrace and will cost our child dearly for all learning/development time they have missed and the mental health implications may last a lifetime. A handfull of children died with Covid yet hundreds of millions of school days have been lost.

We must protect the old/vulnerable and get everyone else back to normal.

Latest NHS news from here:

I know of a nurse who has so little to do at work that during one shift she read a whole book!
She’s not required much at the normally busy town hospital, so she’s been sent elsewhere.

A 95 year old war vet I know had his eye treatment cancelled. He’s gone blind in one eye. Sad
