According to Worldometer website there were 2095 new cases announced yesterday. Only once since it started have 8000 cases been announced. Not sure why the large difference to what he said as he seemed to know a bit about the virus.

he should watch out for oncoming buses. I suspect he already knows this though

Because the 2095 are "tested" cases,the 8000 isn't.

This was covered at the Thursday press conference, it's not a revelation. Well Sage estimates 7000 but they are both extrapolations with a wide margin of error. New infections are consistently falling, the pertinent point. In the four different countries that make up the UK as a whole.

I felt like it was my civic duty to point it out for the unaware, plenty of new people getting infected everyday, that is a lot more "pertinent"

Also "pertinent" is while the goverment have been maintaining they have been following the scientific advice, they are now ignoring it.

Interesting some SAGE members trying to cover their backs.

Needs to be a full enquiry into the role of SAGE when this is over.

Going over their notes/minutes it appears they have been clueless guessers from the start.

1. They estimated 3.8m would need hospital treatment when infact it is less than 100k.

2. They suggested shutting schools thinking children would spread it and get it similiar to the flu which is nonsense.

3. They suggested closing air traffic would have limited effect early on.

4. They agreed to keep taking research off Neil Ferguson/Imperial even after he resigned in disgrace.

I urge everyone to go and read what they have been up to:

If the SAGE minutes and notes is the extent of the 'science' the government is using it is no surprise we are where we are.

It's circa 0.01% of the whole population.

In your expert judgement, if they didn't allow the tiny amount unwinding of the restrictions that they are officially from tomorrow, how many fewer new infections would there be?

It is 60k lives lost, much of that is by incompetence, many more will follow. You can try and justify it,it is frankly disgusting and deep shame on the UK.

We're the SAGE guys who are worried about opening up UK, particularly concerned about new rules from tomorrow.

I thought it was more about the middle of June when shops could open?  The new rules in England seem to be very similar to current rules, but opening of shops is a fairly major change.

If it is tge later, there is a bit of time to get infections down from 8000 a day .

A professor is saying there are 8000 new cases every day, i am relaying that, your question is along the lines of long is a piece of string.

There would be no 8k cases today, there would be no 60k deaths, the goverment policy of leaving the virus run rampant through the country was implemented until it realised it couldn't cope on that course of action and had to review it.

Non essential retail is 15th June. Tomorrow is outside markets.

If we don't do anything tomorrow the infection rate would continue the same path it is now.

The infection rate is not the rate of infection . In reality it is whatever they want us to believe it is . Nothing more than a random figure plucked from the ether in order to support a narrative .

You posted a new thread with a shocked smiley face when the amount of new infections was well covered two days ago by the CSA.

If they made no changes to the lockdown measures, the amount of new infections wouldn't be any lower.

What one member of SAGE is stating is not the SAGE advice, it's the opinion of one member of SAGE.

If SAGE produced their minutes in a timely matter we would know their conclusions and could make our own judgements.

Looking at their earlier minutes from beginning of May backwards they are fairly clueless.

Something not right in that conflict.

fairly clueless compared to the lockdown,
or fairly cluelees to without a lockdowen, which can never be proved clueless or not,

extrapolating figure,s we no or roughly no their 300 to 500,000 figurewithout lockdown are closer than their under 20,000 good result figure

Not to be pedantic, I believe the correct spelling is face, not 'facea', to be correct.

hospitality not open. furlough still getting paid,so were basically risking rising infection so that the 100,s of thousands meeting on beaches an inch apart ,can wett themselves wiuth excitement at meeting 5 people in their garden 2 m apart, and if your on a beach ,you,ve been in sed gardens for weeks,
other than getting cummings of front page, cant see any positives but plenty of possible negatives

It's been a very British lockdown, granted. Most i feel would prefer some semblance of liberty over needing a piece of paper to leave their house.

It's the government who control the release of the minutes of the various SAGE meetings, not the attendees.
Pressure from the media, which was supported by the scientists, has resulted in the minutes of the meetings being released on delay.

But, of course, you already knew that, didn't you. Happy

Spanish numbers have been strange this week though, the last 9 daily death figures have been : 52  688  50  74  (1,915)  280  1  1  2
Yes, they adjusted their figures on 25 May, resulting in a lowering of the cumulative figure by 1,915.
