Thanks for the clarification, I would hate to be promulgating false stories. You didn't comment about Jonah and the whale, yet I read a long sermon based on it in Herman Melville's book "Moby Dick". It put the fear of God in the whalers before they departed on their voyage to the Southern Ocean. There is also an old naval expression "Jonah's lift" where the sailors secretly threw overboard (usually during bad weather at night) someone who they considered to be bringing bad luck. It's certainly unlucky for the Jonah even if there is a whale in the vicinity.
