Who's going to inherit the collection?
Do you still listen to any or is it just gathering dust?
Report dukeofpuke May 19, 2020 4:30 PM BST
I know someone who in the punk era bought 2 of everything released kept one in mint unplayed unopened condition stored in plastic sleeves obv he used and played the other one estimated to be worth £30k plus more now they burnt loads on the thames

Collection likely to be passed on in me will to whoever wants em.
Or if I go first the Mrs can worry about offending folk...

Reckon I have 20 or so years at least to enjoy em, I still play
the odd one now and again, but am enjoying streaming these days

Really enjoy some of the live stuff, none of that in me collection.

One or two in family like to borrow the odd one now and again, but who knows how the family develops over 20 years

sold a lot of mine, gathering dust , got all on cd, so have only kept vinyl had emotional attachment too.
Had some canny stuff on vinyl, loads of of indie ( creation/factory/sarah label ) , plus some vinyl bootlegs, rem, smiths etc.

500 or so. Mostly soundtracks and comedy, and a lot of stuff that people would probably say "why the f... you got that?"  Intended to copy them to files (the stuff that I haven't also got on cd or mp3) but probably never will, takes a lot of effort.

I have not sold mine, though consider it from time to time. I remember an uncle of mine who sold his, saying he really regretted it a few years later. I converted all of the ones I wanted to wav or mp3 format & have them on my pc. I still buy a very occasional record & the first thing I do, is convert it to digital format. I have punk, soul, house & some reggae. I hardly ever use my technics SL1200 mk 2 decks. I also still have an old mixer & tape deck & still have some tapes to convert. I still make mixes & a few years ago, bought a controller & virtual DJ software. One of the reasons I don't play my vinyl, is lack of space. I might have a dedicated music room, if I retire up North & move to a bigger house in ca. 4 years.

there is a tinge of regret but it was a practicality as loft would have caved in. Grin

Hi stow_judge, that's true, and more used to be a good thing for me Happy, but like yourself, I now have a lack of space Sad.  I even store some in a cupboard in the kitchen, which, by rights, I should be using for kitchen stuff, lol Happy

Ranges from early Bowie/Who (Hunky Dory, Diamond Dogs), then onto punk/new wave/mod followed by all the post-punk, then indie galore smiths, wedding present etc, bought some 90s stuff Pixies, 10,000 maniacs etc, after that nothing....

Most in a ridiculously bad condition due to parties etc so no value but wouldnt sell them anyway Laugh
