I partly agree leif....I was a bit sheepish making my claim last night. However, this economic crash was a choice made by this government. Tax and vat rises will follow. I see the grant as an insurance against those tax rises.
Be in no doubt, we and our kids/grandchildren will be paying for this self inflicted crash.

I can claim my free money tomorrow, or Saturday. Happy days!!
I will have to bump Steve’s thread again. It’s worth a laugh for the hypocrisy alone.

There are many Self employed begging for Universal Credit or 'interruption loans'etc.
Have to empathise with those who recently went it alone as a one-man band or set up a business promising jobs for others.
Another thing to note is that the CJRS and SEISS schemes have been set up and assisted by people working from home.
Had it not been for the technology that enables people to collaborate and create 'new' platforms and systems to implement them, there would be no financial bailouts.
Country would be stood 2 metres apart in queues for the soup kitchens having spent hours on end cap in hand for a giro.

I’ve got a nice tax rebate due as well, Foyles! I might join the 1.01 brigade for a bit.
There’s quite a few who have missed out, Leif. Gotta feel sorry for all of them.

Doubt they'll get a round of applause for turning up at the office or working off their kitchen tables with the children running amok.
HMRC heroes ffs

This is another generous lump sum payment/handout from March to May. And, post this if still unable to work eg hairdressers, driving instructors/examiners, etc, and given this is very unlikely to be extended (like furlough) one can go straight on to Universal Credit and more of the same even though payment is only monthly; a secured stream of income since March for doing next to nothing with little expenses incurred.
One off payment of 3 months then Universal Credit to follow. Is that not wonderful if one can get it? And, it's all with the blessing of government and HMRC.

The grant is subject to taxation Imp and paid on condition you intend trading 20/21.
Speculation that the threshold will be lowered to 30k trading profit if next round of bailout prevails.
Debts don't die with soul traders going out of business.
Plenty of pain to come.

The self employed pay National Insurance in annual tax returns, I pay about £800-£900 a year and the small class 2 payment as well. But we have to find work constantly, price jobs in our own time, it's never been the gravy train that the paye make out. 2 sides to a coin. Had 2 months at home, this dollar is needed. Its the guineas soon as well.

I bet you’ve already claimed this morning hey, Foyles.
8am for me tomorrow. I might even set my alarm to get me up. I can manage one day without a lay in!
