Update, following today's official
@ONS
data of total deaths, a cautious estimate of the number of UK excess deaths up to 12 May is

59,700

Of these 51,000 have happened and 8,700 are estimates bringing the official data up to date using evidence from hospitals

Funny you would say that. I did dream of your soft, but masculine, hands rubbing oil, lavender scented, all over my naked body before you gently went on to spoil me further by massaging my penis with your very skilled tongue and mouth.

donny

I made a mistake with the timings overkill of conflict,in any case the content speaks for itself

DenzilPenberthy • March 7, 2018 1:01 PM GMT
There was a good example from the Great Victor Conte who had clients from all major sports.
The FBI were after him as he was too dangerous to leave alone so to get him they busted one of his World Champion sprinters Kelli White.
In the race she ran in to get the positive test Conte knew at least 5 of the 8 competitors weren't clean but only Kelli White returned positive.
He knew the 5 that were definitely on drugs (might've been all of them) because they were his clients but they only wanted the high profile name to bring Conte down.
If all was well in testing and transparency they all would've been given a positive, but things are always more complicated than they seem.

If I might interrupt the arguments for a moment. I am looking at the mortality rate today which is not much lower than this time last week. Are we really making any progress? For instance, there has been a general assumption in recent weeks that we are about 2 weeks behind Italy and Spain in terms of new daily deaths. However, if you look at Italy and Spain this day 2 weeks ago, you see that we have nearly twice as many new deaths as they had on 28th April. This is very worrying for me. Either we are a lot more than 2 weeks behind, or the outbreak is far worse here than in either Italy or Spain.

Here is some data that I track that breaks each month in to three periods to provide a daily average of new cases and deaths.

Just two days in to the most recent period. UK is a bit worrying for cases when compared to the other large European countries.
Of course, there are many, many factors at play.

By:

It's hard to really compare numbers. Unless you really dig you never know who tests who (does a country mostly/only test in hospitals or also people with mild or no symptons), how deaths are determined (e.g does a country test post-mortem or not), are presumed covid-19 related deaths included in a specific country. etc.

Either way, Spain and Italy both locked down harder than the UK, didn't they? At least in specific regions.

Wouldn't have an idea if the UK is two weeks behind, but I fear you could be right when you say the outbreak has in general been more widespread in the UK than in Spain and Italy.

Sorry I can't really be of much more help, but one thing I am sure of - even if you aren't seeing progress yet, you will in due time with measures in place.

The Italian and Spanish outbreaks were more regionsl

Whereas UK is more widespread but slower to spread.

We should be on downward trend now though

As I said on other thread, we up here were slow to lock down
As virus was slow to get here but we are paying by having highest figures now

Sunderland middlesboro and Gateshead are 3 of 4 worst places for cases pro rata
To population

I think this is why UK had a wider peak than Italy or spain

I can fully understand that from him. I'm not sure if I ever even directed anything at him, but my humour tends to sometimes be a tiny little bit more targeted at a specific crowd. If someone is terribly thin-skinned and, in herd mentality, deems himself part of the demographic that is slightly more often at the butt end of the jokes, I can fully understand them potentially not being too amused at my undoubtedly fabulous brand of humour at all times.
