Does that make you happier? That it's easier to be arrested than I believe (or hope) it is.

Ramruna: If making facemasks is not ruinously expensive, and people are demanding them, then manufacturers will make and supply them. There's a profit to be made after all.
If they don't, then it surely means that not enough people want to wear them. |

Why would it?
You seem to be enthusiastically arguing that it's the case. If I've misunderstood, and you're actually a supporter of the "just be sensible and don't get the law involved" approach, then I apologize. I'm taking the dog out for a walk now. Hope all goes well... |

Simple facts are they were very little masks in the country for the public to wear, the medical/care homes were short supplied, the public were sacrificed and told not to wear them and hooky advice was given out about them which has now changed.
The only reason thet aren't compulsory is there is still a lack of,you can get them in amazon from China and could be waiting til July now. It isn't as you are trying to maintain a freedom of choice, that is disingenious. |

Will the wearing of a face mask at the outset reduce the risk of infection? Absolutely YES.
Will the not wearing a face mask at the outset reduce the risk of infection? Absolutely NO. At such, why not advice, recommend or encourage the public at the outset t wearing a face mask? What harm would that have done to the wearer or contraction/death rates? But, we know the reason why the wearing of a face mask was not encouraged or recommended at the outset was because there would be direct competition for face masks with the NHS staff - the government were caught "napping" in their lack of preparation to tackle Covid-19. However, that did not stop some astute public members to acquire and wear a face mask at the outset copying/following the advice of governments in parts of the world already experiencing or experiencing the full wrath of Covid-19. The moral of the story is: Do not take the advice of the government as gospel, but prudent to observe/follow the advice of government elsewhere as effects of Covid-19 are deadly and indiscriminate only minimised by an early well coordinated plan to tackle, contain and overcome this deadly virus. |

The Police I have encountered while out drinking with friends have more or less apologised to me for asking me to move on when we have finished our drinks. We did ashley move from outside the pub because it was not a good look and could be viewed as a threat to the Po Po encouraging them to take action. What action they could have taken is beyond me although of course if I was black they could have tasered me
![]() ![]() Drinking down by the water was much more relaxed in any case and less of an implied threat to their authority. I feel sorry for the Police. "just be sensible and don't get the law involved" I am a supporter of that course of action and drinking with mates to protect my mental elf! Unfortunately this is not Sparta it is England. People don't like you having fun and even less like it when you are having fun and drinking alcohol. |

If one has the virus it's one's responsibility and the responsibility to others to self-isolate accordingly, or call 111 for advice; wearing a face mask could help to reduce (minimise) the spread of the virus (to others), but does not prevent one from contracting it (only minimise); the keys words are "reduced" and "prevent".
Exercising responsibility could mean the chance of one of your family, a relative or a friend contracting the virus even from an asymptomatic carrier is lesser thus resulting in a possible and lesser infection and death rate. |
