Advised in shops and public transport from Wed ......but not  today,  tomorrow , yesterday or all of April ......have they no idea how idiotic and buffoon like they look.

Does this mean you can go into the bank looking like a member of the Hole In The Wall Gang

Exactly, wondersobright.

Just look on with amused detachment (which is precisely what was happening to half the facemasks I saw being worn in the supermarket last time I was there).

Shambolic indeed but wearing a mask will save lives going forward

Maybe not every mask will save lives but the effect adds up.

If you can then please wear one

You know the score, uncle Bill who is a full blown Rockefeller himself (posted link below) has his finger in all possible vaccine pies and all medical institutions with any clout are funded by The Rockefeller Foundation and connect nicely to uncle Bill and his manly missus (got a jaw like George Chuvalo and hands like Sonny Liston).
Here's a link from January he's openly boasting about his investments while the world is petty squabbling amongst itself these shytehawks are having us over.

Other countries were handing free masks out for people going into train/tube stations,it makes a mockery of the now changed "advice" to wear a mask. If the goverment were serious they would have made wearing one compulsory, why not?
By:
screaming from beneaththewaves
When: 12 May 20 10:18
Because 'compulsory' is not how we do things in this country.

If you want 'compulsory', there are plenty of other countries in the world happy to accommodate you.You can recognize them by the walls and minefields around them.

It seems to be "compulsory" not to sunbathe in a park though?
By:

When: 12 May 20 10:24
I think it's ok to sunbathe in the park/on the beach as long as social distancing is observed. Erm, well I think so...

We must follow the science!

Seems to be very compulsory on planes now as well.

A very gentle u turn, slapping on the "mandatory" label now is at odds with the "advice" given months ago, is that how you do things in this country?  needless deaths imo.

It's largely up to each individual what they do. They can now look at the circumstances and decide for themselves.

That's how we do things in this country.
By:

Ok, but weren't they told that masks were next to useless and that was the official advice?

Sure, they can decide to load up everyone into the car and drive to anywhere they like in the UK.

By:

Yes. Official advice turns out to be confused, changing from week to week and barely worth heeding.

That's why it's important to keep it just as advice rather than anything compulsory.
By:
politicspunter
When: 12 May 20 10:47
Well, you can be compulsory arrested and fined if you don't follow the "advice". That doesn't suggest to me that you have much choice in the matter.

Wear a mask, don't wear a mask. Is it Wednesday yet?

Of course it might help if the government had got masks into the shops. Given the public needs only basic face covering, why didn't Boris get one or more of our textile firms to knock up a few million, to be sold via supermarkets? This would leave medical grade masks for the professionals. As it is we are headed for another toilet roll situation.
By:
screaming from beneaththewaves
When: 12 May 20 10:55
Not for facemasks, which is what I thought we were talking about.

Other things did end up with the police getting involved. Thankfully we've now gone from Stay Home to Stay Alert, so that's become less of an issue. Anyone unhappy or confused about that can always simply move to the Nationalist Republic north of the border of course, where they can carry on feeling safe under the threat of arrest.

Or just leave it to those textile firms to make them anyway if there's really a demand for them. Why do you need Boris to make every decision for you?

@screaming from beneaththewaves -- the government is creating or increasing demand by requiring them to be worn. That is why it should have established a proper supply beforehand. It would not have been ruinously expensive and it is not as if the government has not had time to think about it.
