There's already a big police/CCTV unit appeared in the car park at my local supermarket, bristling with cameras it is, like Big Brothers wet dream and complete with an (un)reassuring 'keeping you safe' message sprawled along the side.
In readiness for what? Food shortages?

Wasn't the UK already the most mass surveilled non-US western country long before SARS MkII, much to the enthusiasm of the broader public?
lets hope it works better than the cctv system which was deployed around the pentagon on 9/11.
