Just seen most it and it would appear only the UK and USA economies are in shlt street. Should we be buying shares in companies from any other country bar these two?

Any news which disses Trump and Johnson and their respective countries is the staple diet of the BBC and causes mucho delight and merriment.

They are trying to shiv their own country now they are an endangered channel, slash and burn tactics.

Every country has dire economic warnings, they will be some bill.

What i didn't gey was they were projecting the economy will drop by 14% but it will grow by 15% next year?

There might be a reason for that but don't get it.
Report edy May 7, 2020 6:56 PM BST
Why should they overly concern themselves with other economies? For people in the western sphere, the economy of the own country, in this case the UK, and that of the overlord, the USA, matter first and foremost.

Just a case of wanting to blame the meanie BBC and play the poor victim again.

you left Europe,remember
Report edy May 7, 2020 7:01 PM BST
Even within the EU, or at least Germany, one isn't bombarded with the exact state of the Romanian economy non-stop. You get told about Germany, the USA and the Eurozone as a whole (if a new forecast is published).

People simply know that it has an impact everywhere. We don't need to be told about the state in the UK, France or whereever else to not have our little nationalistic feelings be hurt.

100 less 14% is 86

86 grown by 15% = 98. 9

So they are forecasting a small decline over the period of just over 1%

Remember 20 years ago they were talking about scrapping the license fee, and 15 years ago, and 10, and 5 and today, really it's a political football when it suits, not sure the trigger will ever be pulled.

I suppose what's different nowadays to 20 years ago is that now it really does feel out of today because their viewership numbers have crashed thanks to streaming platforms, netflix and the like, I mean for years their flagship programme was Eastenders, ok when they was getting 15 mil per episode 4 times a week but now about 3-5 mil? Should either be subscription based (would be the end of the BBC) or advertisements.

If they go subscription is will make them book their ideas up a bit

No one wants to watch half the c*** they churn out. Doctor Who and EastEnders are their main two shows and who the heck is going to pay to watch those god awful shows?

PC will need to be dropped, and they'll need to get in the real world ffs

Eastenders , Let's all have shout up in the Pub ,Or a murder ,That'll keep the masses interested

Yes totally unaware , I always thought that a Jewish man would love to play a true NF TYPE Character

, Never the less anything like it today would cause uproar ...

And would not be screened ,Hence the question of who put in on the Schedule in the first place .

I think the BBC is still an institution worth protecting, but it does need reform. There are far too many presenters, political editors, newsreaders, chief correspondents, editors of every possible subject. How many political editors, finance editors, business editors, Europe editors, home affairs editors etc do they need? Far too many of them churning out the same stuff 24 hours a day. Massive waste of money, imo. I expect these people are not on low wages either. Sad

Health
Created by Johnny Speight, Till Death Us Do Part centred on the East End Garnett family, led by patriarch Alf Garnett (Warren Mitchell), a reactionary white working-class man who holds anti-socialist views. His long-suffering wife Else was played by Dandy Nichols, and his daughter Rita by Una Stubbs. Rita's husband Mike Rawlins (Anthony Booth) is a socialist layabout from Liverpool who frequently locks horns with Garnett. Alf Garnett became a well-known character in British culture, and Mitchell played him on stage and television until Speight's death in 1998.

In addition to the spin-off In Sickness and in Health, Till Death Us Do Part was remade in several countries including Brazil (A Grande Família), Germany (Ein Herz und eine Seele), and the Netherlands (In voor- en tegenspoed [nl]), and it is the show that inspired All in the Family in the United States.[1]

Many episodes from the first three series are thought to no longer exist, having been wiped in the late 1960s and early 1970s as was the policy at the time.

Although Speight said he wrote the series to challenge racism, it was felt by some critics that many people watched it because they agreed with Alf Garnett's views.[2] The linguist Alan Crosby has argued that the constant use of the phrase "Scouse git" with reference to Anthony Booth's character spread both the word "Scouse" and negative stereotypes of Liverpudlians.[3]
