South east London was often a hotbed for the far right. Will they be celebrating or will they still be lamenting the 75th anniversary of Hitler's death?

The British Indian Army during World War II began the war, in 1939, numbering just under 200,000 men.[1] By the end of the war, it had become the largest volunteer army in history, rising to over 2.5 million men in August 1945.[1][2] Serving in divisions of infantry, armour and a fledgling airborne force, they fought on three continents in Africa, Europe and Asia.
The British Indian Army fought in Ethiopia against the Italian Army, in Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Algeria against both the Italian and German Army, and, after the Italian surrender, against the German Army in Italy. However, the bulk of British Indian Army was committed to fighting the Japanese Army, first during the British defeats in Malaya and the retreat from Burma to the Indian border; later, after resting and refitting for the victorious advance back into Burma, as part of the largest British Empire army ever formed. These campaigns cost the lives of over 87,000 Indian servicemen, while another 34,354 were wounded, and 67,340 became prisoners of war.[3][4] Their valour was recognised with the award of some 4,000 decorations, and 18 members of British Indian Army were awarded the Victoria Cross or the George Cross. Field Marshal Claude Auchinleck, Commander-in-Chief of British Indian Army from 1942, asserted that the British "couldn't have come through both wars (World War I and II) if they hadn't had British Indian Army."[5][6] British Prime Minister Winston Churchill also paid tribute to "The unsurpassed bravery of Indian soldiers and officers."[5] brave brave men |

Tis a silver lining. Can you imagine how insufferable the pocket Faragists who grew up watching war films would be right now getting all misty eyed about their victory over Europe. Farage, Rees Mogg, Banks, Morgan et al must be gutted they can't cash in on the expected patriotism bonus this week.

WK - with respect, it's not a case of bravery. 1) It's a case of not infecting others 2) Iirc, you believe this virus is a hoax or exaggerated and therefore there's nothing to fear anyway. Apologies if I'm confusing you with someone else. |

Allah help us all if every possible 'community' isn't publicly embraced and (as usual) disproportionately recognised in the UK commemoration of VE Day.
I wouldn't mind betting that we'll finally learn that every man who participated in the Normandy Landings actually identified as female, or followed a Peace-Loving Religion, or was doing their bit to support and further same-sex relationships. |

Please remember the 'Remainers' and the British "Progressive Left" in your prayers today. This is a tough day for them to swallow.
You see, they can't stand Traditional Britain, or this little country which rightly remembers the incredible courage and sacrifice of Our Greatest Generation who suffered or died for it in WW2. The country that gave the Modern Left so much, including the freedom to connive to make this a Land Fit for Terrorists, The Terrorist's Chosen Homeland. Even today, the Left won't hesitate to take the side of those looking to destroy us and the freedoms our parents and grandparents fought for, which maybe explains their taste for Islamofascism. |
