The flu kills 25-52,000 each season

No lockdown for that either, and we all get a dose of that as well, we catch a cold which can become the flu which can become pneumonia

Shhhhhhh

We lose thousands every year to flu

Flu jabs help keep numbers down, government followed flu plan for this corona.... Resulting in 20,000 extra deaths

https://voxeu.org/article/measuring-impact-german-public-shutdown-spread-covid-19

Interesting piece on the German approach and the interventions and subsequent timings/expected lag in seeing the daily rise in cases slow after 2 sets of interventions on different dates.

They had to expand capacity to deal with the cases they caused by dithering.

Not sure where the beds came from, maybe the government bunkers under landen?

why open one in Harrogate a week ago then, there's not much of it up here, Leeds isn't struggling 20 miles south.

They seem to have planned it ages ago.

Harrogate has a conference centre and has such has room to host a nightingale and the infrastructure is easily planned in a town that has a history of hosting events with inflows from the area and outside.

I think they did a good job planning and constructing these nightingales

Pity they didn't use them to treat the 10s of thousands left to die in care homes.

A national shame.

If you google - Valerie Martin French care homes you will probably have had the only right solution to care homes (in hindsight).

I agree the Nightingales should have been built,no one knew, they would have been lambasted if people were dying in the street, they weren't tbf leaving that happen.

Harsh to say they "spaffed" money with them,ok maybe they should stop now, they are "spaffing" in other areas,a lot of that is employees fault taking advantage, they should be ashamed of themselves(employees)

Nope they didn't send any old to these nightingale hospitals SadPlain

The whole event lurches from one contradiction to another Cry this thing has a low infectious rate, has effected less than 1% of the country and its mainly only killing old people

Yet at the start of this they claimed we are all in danger? they can no longer massage the figures so they are moving everyone's attention to the "testing and infection rates"

Death rate is now none important because its death rate is heading towards 0.1% ffs

Everytime they get caught in a lie they simply just move the goal posts and create a new excuse

Pathetic isn't a strong enough insult for these t***s

Tbf the best I expected was field hospitals constructed by the army.

The other negative of course was the lack of staff for these nightingales but maybe they had a plan,

All these confirmed cases are going up between the 0.2% and 0.3% range, London has 0.2% confirmed cases, Midlands has 0.24% confirmed cases etc

Deaths rates for each area is so low its not even worth putting it in

And they've "peaked", its hit 0.3% nationwide and most of them have been in hospital and care homes

French doctor claims to have found covid 19 patient weeks before it was public knowledge

I guess that explains the plot hole then
