Will check out Lidl. Used to really like their No. 3?..Green Gecko, but then the brew or brewery changed.
Bath Ales's Lansdown is my pick of current supermarket beers if you are into your IPAs. Bottles seem better than cans. |

So many breweries round here . I drink anything.....stouts , bitters or lagers . If I go to the pub I normally do beer roulette . Some are better
than others . Most are pretty good . In doors I drink Tyskie or Lech , pretty decent lagers imo . |

Bottled beer defo better than cans imho

Without a doubt if the choice is between a bottled and can of the same beer I'd always go for the bottle. It amazes me how different the taste can be between the two.

Spoilt for choice here in Mid Sussex - Harveys, Dark Star and Bedlam all beer available delivered, and Southdowns Cellars (top independant wine merchants hereabouts) Had a 5L can of Bedlam Barcombe Blond for the weekend. Biased perhaps, Christened in Barcombe church!, but lovely stuff. We are blessed here in Sussex with craft beer, as many of you are. Support your local Brewers.

Shame Dark Star got bought out but original owner kept 1st pub i think. Now owned by Asahi who bought Fullers who bought Dark Star

duke...so many breweries I want to visit..will add that to the list...I brew my own beer, so particularly interested in tours... .was in the area last year a couple of times and visited Magic Rock in Huddersfield. Decent pub crawl round Huddersfield.

Tesco cider £2.55 for 4 cans @ 5%
cant go wrong ![]() |

Drank lager most of my life but last few years i'd rather have a blonde beer, pale ale or IPA.
Dark Star Hophead is a favourite, so too Shipyards, Atlantic, London Mean Time Pale Ale, Camden Pale Ale, Tribute. Also like Old Speckled Hen, thought it was too dark for me but enjoyed it. |
By:
Oh and Theakstons Old Peculiar Pale Ale is a good one.
By:
Leffe blonde another favourite, couple of them large bottles and you know about it. But enough about my brekkie
By:
Difficult not to generalise lovegod, but I find 'Blonde Ales' invariably tasteless and I avoid. Conversely there are some dark looking 'Pale ales' that are all about light flavoursome hops. My favourite draught is Abbeydale Moonshine- summer in a glass- but I've never seen it in bottles.
By:
I'd agree with the Blonde ales comment - can't think of one I like.
I will throw a couple more nice ones into the mix... Backyard Brewery Gold. Purity UBU or Mad Goose and their Longhorn IPA. |

It's gotta be a Shipyard for me...always available at Uncle Tim's (fcuk am I missing Wetherspoons)
![]() It's an American IPA - out of the bottle just ain't the same is it? ![]() |
By:
Not a bad standby! Brewed by Marston's I think. As was the aforementioned Green Gecko at some point.
Keg, bottle or can - not much difference. Cask is king. ![]() IMO Lidl and Aldi 'craft' beers (330 cans or bottles) are very poor. |
By:
My second fav at home Gibberish, and always buy it draught at Sir Tim's. 4 x 440 ml for a fiver at the co-op.
By:
Saddo - there's a Co-Op at the top of my road...I've never noticed Shipyard there.
I'll go and investigate soon and hopefully make an 'investment' ![]() |
By:
You won’t not have long to wait for Wetherspoons gibberish they plan to reopen in June .
By:
Can't fcukin' wait buddy

Gibberish, they are in a box, mainly white with the blue ship on, the branding is easy to miss tbf
By:
I'm off there in the next hour...that's tonight's 'dinner' sorted.

One of the best drinks on tap is white rat

Surely not foxy. Ossett Brewery brewery bought em because they lacked the imagination to make a beer of their own with new world hops. Their pubs are very nice ( I'm surrounded by them_) and well run but I've never been a fan of their beers, and they are not good at choosing guest beers really. Much better beers imho, Moonshine is much better.

I really like it saddo where I get it is at a very small bar on an indoor market which has to call last orders at 5 pm,as far as I know I have not been in an ossett pub unless the muse in Wetherby is one as I am pretty sure they sell plenty of the ossett breweries drinks.
By:
Oddly enough, they have just repurchased the pub next door to the brewery. Currently a dirty hole with a fine choice of beers. It will end up a lovely pub with slightly less choice and variety, and hopefully cleaner customers. My brother lives nearby.

I bought a tin of Tiny Rebel pineapple IPA yesterday.
Stunning stuff. I just didn’t realise it was 6.2%. Not cheap but a real treat. |

Some of the blonde beers can be a bit tasteless, but the Leffe blonde has a lot of taste to it. £3 a bottle and 6.5 well worth a try out
