NHS doctors and GPs in the UK have been sent an alert warning them to look out for a rare but dangerous reaction in children that may be linked to coronavirus infection.
The alert said that in the past few weeks, intensive care departments in London and other parts of the UK have been treating children with a “multisystem inflammatory state” that looks similar to toxic shock syndrome or sepsis.
These young patients of varying ages have had gastrointestinal symptoms – tummy pain, vomiting or diarrhoea – and inflammation of the heart, as well as abnormal blood test results.
The alert, which was issued to GPs in North London by their clinical commissioning group but has now been shared more widely, advises such cases are urgent and should be treated as such.
It is unclear how many have been diagnosed with the illness, although the numbers will be low.
Some of the cases have tested positive for coronavirus but others haven’t.

at least we can all satisfy ourselves that it doesn't look like elite sports people are effected,
take us all back 10 weeks to quote the scientists ,we don't no a lot but what we do no is under 60,s and children only suffer very mild dose like the flu ,normal cold,  |

No not at all, I just question how many are really staying awake all night worrying about the economy, or battered women, or suicides, or I they just using those issues as ammunition because their routines have been disrupted. I understand that there are people genuinely concerned but therre are most certainly plenty who couldn't really give two sh1ts about those issues as well but are happy to use them in an argument. |

People will be worried about the economy when it cant fund the NHS and half the Nurses are made redundant.
thegiggolo. Is everything in your life right or left wing? My current experience in the teaching profession is that they are appalling compared to NHS staff, Supermarket staff etc. But you just carry on in your simple right wing/left wing world. |

My experince is that teachers are superb from the schools my kis have gone to and do more than they need to,attackig teachers has always been a rightwing take i know as family members and rightwingers do oit in general..Also you;re constant chirpsing of getting people back to work regardless of anything,another rughtwing take all the posters that push this agenda tend to be rughtwing and obviously for theor various financial interests..Theior seething everyday is so transparent with the anguish in theor posts like yourself.

Blame Boris,he wanted to keep the economy going and he did far too long until he got the numbers were too much for NHS after leaning towards herd immunity. Ye should be prepared to eat porridge every day and go barefoot if it could save an elderly relative. |

Ye should be prepared to eat porridge every day and go barefoot if it could save an elderly relative They kept him in for 4 days was supposed to stay in a lot longer,told him wssn't worth the risk wioth corona virus and to put that into perspective my area is 134 on the list,that's how safe it is to be in hospitals..So bnow is siting at home with anti biotics in agaony only on basic pain killers and waiting for an op,altough he said he was relieved to get out of there.. |

in research in china,usa, the under 40,s tested positive for corona have shown a 7 fold increase in strokes ,in hospital admissions, but remember it onle effects over 70,s with underlying conditions |

There was a study done by the Department of Biomedical Engineering , Northwestern University and Boston Medical Center , posted April 10th titled
"The Role of Vitamin D in Suppressing Cytokine Storm in COVID-19 Patients and Associated Mortality ." They found a pattern of two peaks , one in very young patients and one in the elderly population . they hypothesised that cytokine storm and immunosuppression were major reasons for admission to intensive care units . They were possibly activated by the innate immune system in the under 4's and the adaptive immune system in the over 60's . this part of the study was based on 63,002 cases from Spain . It was removed a few days after I read it as the medical research had not been evaluated so could't be used to guide clinical practice . |
