The mood is changing I think. This week for the first time ive seen groups of youths congregating and the number of people out and about at least trebling. Car traffic is also way up. Reading forums/comments in the papers and it seems thats widespread.

Lockdown was only ever going to work in the short term. People simply wont put their lives on hold forever. Its unrealistic.

More people and traffic on the streets where I am for sure.
Report Cider April 25, 2020 1:13 PM BST
Pretty obvious to see why the people moaning and moaning and moaning some more that the full lock down was too late are patently wrong.

loads more out  this week ... it's been  walkers, cyclists out in droves mid week afternoons but roads still low on traffic   ,but why  more people than the week before ?   ...there has never been a proper lockdown.
Report Ibrahima Sonko April 25, 2020 1:53 PM BST
There was never a lockdown, just restrictions.

country must be benefitting no end  ... fitness levels on the up,  people out in the unbroken sunshine for the last 30 odd days and not in offices  ,little pollution ,air the cleanest i've ever known ,no diesel fumes  ...deaths not much higher than normal *(weighted by age)

just a small dent in the nations finances maybe  but worth the trade off in the long run  imo...people will be healthier for sure but will go back to old ways sadly  Plain

we need more of this

Jenny always mentions "lockdown measures" from her pulpit?

Not sure overall health is benefiting. The already active are getting fitter as they are out even more but the lazy are still sat at home eating doughnuts and drinking.
Now when it comes to mental health we are storing up a disaster for the future.
Report Cider April 25, 2020 2:03 PM BST
There are variations of lock down around the world obviously, and the UK is a more liberal version.

single parents locked up with three under 10s in a tower block, have my utmost sympathy

sort of what i meant dotch ..those who generally  self improve will benefit all the more ,which is good    ...those at the bottom of societies heap  who can't be bothered ?  they're in a poor state of health to start with  ..they can't be fixed

They'll most likely be getting a shedload of support from the taxpayer, and living there by choice.

Baphornet ...good point ... mental health may suffer for quite a few like that   ...they should be allowed out to parks at all costs

That's one of many urban myths pumped out by the media, only poor people live in flats with no garden. They could easily live in a different area with a garden if they wanted to. Plenty of rich people live in flats as well.

I knew a pro poker player who lived in a towerblock, said it was more peaceful playing online as where he lived before there was dogs barking all the time esp in summer

In his flat block it was super quiet 99% of the time

I met my homeless mate George today & the massive plus side that he is homed in a hotel at the moment.

Overall health will be damaged, especially mental health and the knock end affect of people not getting treated for general illnesses will end up being worse than covid. Going to work is so beneficial for health.

It's very true. There's an obsession with living in London, which is incredibly expensive and most cramped. I can write from personal experience as I moved out of London as I couldn't afford to buy a decent property at the time. I could go back if I wanted to now, but moving away from the big smoke was life changing, for the better.
Report SontaranStratagem April 25, 2020 2:23 PM BST
Don't know what happened to him Sad

Probably married with kids and is now living in a nice big house in the suburbs, drinking out of proper glasses Laugh

Go out every day and enjoy the fine weather.
It is easy to keep social distance outdoors, and it probably makes next to no difference to the take up  of the virus.
A cheery smile and wave improves the days of all who exchange them.
The sun will help your mood. The exercise will do you good. Beat boredom. The world offers itself to your imagination.

Superb post Unitedbiscuits.

Idiot politicians think they can destroy the basic right of freedom.
