About 30% of the population are still out and about or live with someone that is, 10.7 million key workers plus their households. Lockdown is never getting rid of it, you would need this group to develop herd immunity. Even then the other 70% can catch it in the supermarket or a shared door handle to a block of flats.

I suppose everyone having to go to the few shops that are open in a concentrated manner also increases the spread? |

Lockdown is not about getting rid of it. It is about slowing a spread that has got out of hand. Try again.

A concentrated manner?
Far fewer allowed in at any one time and distancing in queues? And if everyone is out going where they please you'd have it better? |

100% of the population being 'out and about' and more wouldn't spread it a bit more, no?

Does the lockdown stop the spread ?
It seems a no brainer, but you see areas that locked down on March 23rd with hardly any cases now worse off than places that had serious outbreaks at that time. |
