Plenty from the BBC (via the taxpayer) who've stole a living in recent times
Virtually all of the decent comedies of the last 20 years have been on Channel 4 |
By:
think sometimes these bbc comedies are commissioned on potential audience figures alone, ie mrs brown boys, bbc know its **** but know public will watch it in its droves.
its like liam gallagher making an album, he knows its total turd and only retards will buy/download it but he knows will sell in its millions. |

Have had funnier acid reflux than Miranda, Les Dawson was brilliant, so we're Morecambe & Wise. Liked Little Britain too, and the office.
By:
Oh and Alan Partridge too
By:
think miranda had /has connections in high places, otherwise would be on the dole.

UK Sitcoms from the past good ones mostly pre-2000
Good Rising Damp Steptoe and Son Rise and Fall of Reggie Perrin Fawlty Towers It aint half Hot Mum Are you being served (references to Mrs Slocombs Pu$$y of course) On The Buses Man about the House Til Death us do part Porridge Please Sir Nearest and Dearest Bless this House Blackadder Red Dwarf (up to series 5) One foot in the grave Keeping up appearences Men behaving badly the Vicar of Dibley Not going out The Office Outnumbered Phoenix Nights Car Share Borderline George and Mildred Hi De Hi Mind your language The Good life Allo allo (got repetitive after a while) Only fools and horses (see Allo allo) Duty Free Benidorm (early series) Shoite Father dear Father Birds of a Feather Bread Miranda My Hero The Upper Hand To name but a few all imo of course, I pretty much stopped watching most of them post 2010. |

By:
2 more for the Shoite list
Up the Elephant and round the castle Babes in the Wood |
By:
Mr Spock the Peep Show is a shocking omission to your list of good sitcoms. I quite liked Birds of a Feather. They spoke like me, came from my neck of the woods and I fancied 2 of them. The last bit of info is probably a bit wrong.

Ofcourse for every bad UK sitcom there are at least 20 US ones a few being;
Joey Melissa and Joey Kevin can wait 2 Broke girls Joanie loves Chachi Mom My mother the Car (unbelievably bad)a guys mother is a car (ghost) Hot in Cleveland Young Sheldon theres literally hundreds of them. |
By:
I did say to name a few, I know we are on lockdown but I have a roast dinner to make!
By:
ffaith I wonder which 2 you fancied
and I bet you dont now! |
By:
I fancied Pauline Quirke I thought she had a warm personality and err comely and buxom charms. The second one was the old girl she seemed a right goer. The perfect milf to sort out a young inexperienced lad. Life was so simple then.

1.01 busted there i'm afraid.
By:
Good list Spock, also liked the I.T Crowd. Richard Ayoade was made for comedy. The nutcase boss was good in it too, think he was called Gus. Rising damp was brilliant with great comedy actors in it

One out now called Mr Winner that's not too shabby
By:
Not really my cup of tea but I could see the merit in Ab Fab. Jennifer Saunders probably the best of brit women in terms of writing.
By:
I don't think anybody has mentioned a couple of John Sullivan jewels that imo were excellent,
Dear John and Just good friends |
By:
Ever Decreasing circles.... Shocking omission
Not as Shocking as Fancying Pauline Quirk though.. ![]() |
By:

By:

By:
Only fools
Blackadder Steptoe Bottom Porridge —————- Phoenix nights Us sitcoms I love Raymond easy watching |
By:
Pretty sure Bottom would be considered a situation comedy.. Good call.

Auf Wiedersehen, Pet Where does it go cos I loved that
But wasn’t sitcom but funny as **** |
By:
Thought of the US sit-coms I considered funny..
Taxi.. 9 The King of Queens.. 8 then I'd be stuck for anything over a 6... |
By:
I'm sure if everyone honestly confessed their secret crushes she wouldn't be the worse not by a long shot. In fact if I sat down and racked my noodle I'm sure I could come up with someone even less "acceptable".
By:
Miranda fits that bill ffaith
By:
Yes Minister was top class
