And i blame the advisers.Let me give you an example.let me run this hypothetical situation past you all. Suppose Matt Handcock had to announce that the government was about to put Humpty Dumpty sitting on a wall.and they release this news in a setting from 10 Downing Street .Three people walk out with Matt in the middle and they show slides and take questions from the media, the media will blast questions at the three people with an understanding that situation is doomed to fail and the government is certain to fail. And everyone will say that the government have lost the plot. Now "lets take another setting" Our Matt is sitting in his back garden with sun glasses on his head.He is wearing a summer short sleeve shirt, the birds are whistling in the trees and the Sun is beating down on the lush green grass.Matt rocks his rocking chair as he suggests the positives on the new innovative idea the government has to put Humpty on a structured strong wall.He says he has ample horses and tens of thousands of kings men to do the job. 9 out of 10 people will believe Matt in the garden setting but only one out of 10 people will believe the 3 walking out and showing slides in Downing Street. my point is that these briefing have long past their sell by date and its the advisers that are not presenting the latest news correctly. in fact some people will believe that Humpty will not fall if the spin doctors tell it from a garden setting.
