Which kills 1.5 million every year- its TB
Corona Virus is a not even on this scale and the world has badly overreacted.
Trump (for once ) is right when he warned the cure could be worse than the desease.
The knock on from recession will kill more than the virus itself. The world has gone mad.
Over 90% of uk hospitalised virus cases are aged 70 + and 90%  of deaths are from this group
Under 50s - a 2 % chance of needing a hospital anda tiny tiny risk of dying - and a big chunk of these are vulnerable because of existing chronic conditions.
Its blindingly obvious - just lockdown the old and let the rest get on with life as usual - ok social distance - where possible - but get back to work.

So - everyone of state pension age - isolate - vulnurables under that - isolate.

Simples- now get on with it

What happens in the second half. When Corona launches wave after wave of attack?it sleeps,it creeps,it leaps.
Report ----you-have-to-laugh--- April 20, 2020 9:21 PM BST
tb is a mass killer in poore countries.

here in the uk it was one of the main killes but is at low levels now, but with worry it is
finding ways of defeating antibiotics.

i think trump got corona virus mixed up with tb in his rant the other night.

Its becoming more baffling by the second this thing

All of a sudden all affected countries are seeing "considerable drops" in hospital admissions and deaths and new cases Crazy all at the same time CrazyPlain

Its almost as if we are all on the same script route...
Report SontaranStratagem April 20, 2020 10:11 PM BST
And now there's been this oil collapse today which is now mainstream top news

Couldn't make it up, I can't wait to see how they spin themselves out of this one, this thing was pretty ambitious maybe a bit to ambitious
Report Gibberish April 20, 2020 10:11 PM BST
SS - but you're well aware that we've already been prepped for a second and/or third wave...so there'll be no change.
Report Gibberish April 20, 2020 10:12 PM BST
It's the next stage that's the concern...when they roll out a 'magical' vaccine!
Report SontaranStratagem April 20, 2020 10:13 PM BST
Gibberish most likely not until the autumn in my opinion

IF we do see a 2nd wave, the vaccine might be easy to sell without it

People will want their lives back quickly
Report SontaranStratagem April 20, 2020 10:15 PM BST
The 2nd wave is harder to sell surely? they just about got away with this one because of how quickly they pushed it out, it was like out of nowhere but that wont be as easy 2nd time around

Viruses? they don't exist outside the body never mind hiding in the bushes for 3 months
Report SontaranStratagem April 20, 2020 10:17 PM BST
Personally I think they'll sell a long mild shut down, its safer for them to keep people believing they are still in a shut down rather than open it back up and then bam!!! 2nd wave hits, because no one will be sick when they are let out

Wait until autumn and then even the sheep will be like - like wait a minute this is the normal winter colds/flus
Report Gibberish April 20, 2020 10:22 PM BST
I'm as bewildered as you mentioned.
I say to myself that surely people will eventually wake from their collective coma?

PS - hiding in the bushes Grin

Wonder

Its being played for time, they have the vaccine now it went live on the 31st March
Report brassneck April 21, 2020 12:10 AM BST
the all seem to be flattening the curve at the same time, yet they say everyday we are 3 weeks behind France who are 2 weeks behind Italy who are behind Japan who are behind China and all the curves were flattened today.ShockedShockedShockedShocked
what is going on?And everyone's 5 point plans are working ,wonder what will happen tomorrow, will the curves be mentioned or will the "we havent reached the peak" saying be back in action.
Report SontaranStratagem April 21, 2020 12:28 AM BST
Who knows brass

I personally think we'll see a rise tomorrow back to 700+

But its quite baffling to watch to play out, Sky have stopped reporting the true figures again as well, like they reported 200 died on this date 100 on this date but that's vanished again now
Report ian merseyside April 21, 2020 1:33 AM BST
Looks like the tide has started to turn touch wood.  Hopefully the figures continue to look good over the next few days.  There was a guy on Newsnight earlier saying that we need to move quickly to get a plan in place by Friday to start gradual easing of lock down during next week.  The press are now going to be on this big-style and I think the Govt will be on the back foot.  The problem is the Govt has already committed to 3 weeks of lock down and Boris isn't around to make any big changes.  We are just drifting along as per usual.
Report jucel69 April 21, 2020 2:12 AM BST
We have so much to learn about this virus.

We are seeing more and more examples of huge numbers of people not showing any symptoms.

At a Boston homeless shelter 146 people tested positive and all were considered asymptomatic.

Lots of work to do.
