not giving Trump any credit, but you seem ok with China doing what they want without any comeback,
apart from finding it funny apparently, which ironically is what Morgan is accusing politicians of doing.

trumps always says things just to boost the stockmarket/oil price but we should be asking questions about how we are going to get out of this mess,we couldnt normalise things after the 2008 crash so we should be asking how do they plan to do it now with things a awful lot worse

50 years ago you would hear from genuine experts on things like a virus. Now the media dish up Bill Gates and Lady Gaga ffs

The media are the core problem in this country in how they have raced to the bottom for the sake of viewing figures and revenue.
The public is now stupefied beyond belief and Politicians are media trained within an inch of their lives to avoid answering questions that would cause controversy.

The media have a duty to enable proper honest mature discourse.

The media though prefer to let WUMs like Ash Sarkar on sky news this morning

No one else in the media are asking politicians questions though, simple politician friendly questions in abundance alright, they have to be held to account for their actions or lack of,a compliant media in bed with politicians isn't right either.

What questions do you want answered Pa? You are correct in that some of the media give politicians and easy ride but its not about giving them an easy/hard ride, its about educating the public as to what is happening. 99% of the media coverage has been noise from which no one has learned anything. Polarisation of the media is toxic and serves no one any good.

The other night Trump had a Press conference and was harangued with "do you think you could have done more?" etc etc....
Then out of the blue an NBC hack asked a question about the virulence of the virus and how easily it was transmitted....

The whole room went into shock that a well thought out question was asked...

Its the media age and politicians can't have it both ways ... Doris; Gove; Raab etc want lots of publicity when things are going well but hate any criticism put to them; obviously it aplies to Labour politicians also .... they court publicity because they think it gives them kudos to the viewer (+ potential voter) and TV / Radio / Papers want more and more of it because it fills time and space
Perhaps our politicians should go back to an age I remember of Heath / Wilson / Callaghan & even Thatcher ... as I remember they appeared on TV only when its required to give information to the public which is necessary ...  other than that at election time (public information / election broadcasts) ...
We reap what we sow with a world wide media operating 24 hours of the day which regurgitates everything to the Nth degree

Why aren't covid cases near me not being publicly known for one RQ,well and good telling me to wash my hands and keeping 2 metres away but not a lot of use if i have an asymptomatic fella next door.

Of course that is related to the severe lack of testing to date but public lack of knowledge in even how many active cases are in your neighbourhood is chronic, take the figures and multiply by 10? active or not? How can you go to the shop if you are unaware of scale even?

It shouldn't be hidden, they can correlate transport graphs and quite sure they can have local information, unless of course it is all the secret herd immunity project ongoing.

Cant disagree with much of RQs posts on here either.

‘Holding to account’ needs to meet a standard. There should be a balance with praise and constructive suggestion.

Constant criticism is just moaning.

^ disagree, the mantra of unprecedented times,24/7,around the clock after 6 weeks is wearing thin, every single minister had their ar se torn on that show, accept mediocrity if you want, you are getting it in spades.

I am not sure I agree with RC’s politics ( don’t know what they are tbf ) but he is raising some questions.

I am wondering what these journalists have to do to keep in a Ministers loop? Listen to the questions they are asking at briefings, lame!

Chump will and should remain a hero to Republicans for generations because he has changed not just the Supreme Court but many of the courts underneath. That will have more than a generational impact. Whatever else he has done is insignificant in comparison. He will always be a failure as the leader of the free world.

Very easy to understand why local data is not easy to access. Too many people would just try to move to an area with low levels of infection.
