Under current social distancing restrictions and in the interests of preventing the spread of the ROna virus, is this venture barely legal?
There'll be Romanian, maybe other migrants from other EU countries, and also UK students among others that will be crammed in to Hostels, Portacabins and caravans.
This is appalling ffs
For the sake of a few lettuces & spring onions.

It's no problem, we have flights coming here daily from many virus riddled countries. Get a shoehorn and jam them all in together.

If it takes a one-to-one ratio nursing care to nurse a ventilated patient back to health (or otherwise) then how is it acceptable to herd workers into tin shacks for the sake of a few spring onions.

Ive picked just about everything down the years. Good honest piece work out in the open air.I may yet have a go this Summer as well depending on what else is going on.
You would need youth on your side. If judging by those Romanians getting off the planes.

I wouldnt do it for the money but id happily have a few days on the strawberries although they seem to be in the tunnels now rather than how they used to be 20 years ago. Was never paid by the hour.
When I used to pick the peas 30 years ago it was still Romanians of a sort. The local gypsies worked hard in those days, I think their money is made elsewhere now.

I've recently started doing squat exercise, and it's hard work. How the fruit pickers can do that is beyond me. I've respect for the jockeys too who can assume that position for the entire race and maintain control of the beast takes a lot of doing. Definitely a young person's game.
