1st time. So how long would you expect people to put their lives on hold? 6 weeks, 3months, a year or indefinitely?
I dont agree that my families lives are on the line anyway. Thats being overly dramatic. A couple of elderly relatives may need an extended period at home but the rest will be just fine as the statistics show. |

More sense from Dotch...oh how this place cries out for posters like wolf and Dotch

As for " families lives on the line" how do you think those self employed with mortgages/rent to pay, children to feed/clothe will react to that when the virus has a fatality rate of less than 0.01 % under 60. "Never mind mate, you will lose your business because ...there is less chance of dying from corona than getting run over crossing the road "

I'd like to thank all the brave people who aren't in the slightest bothered by the virus, anyone who is prepared to give up their place in the queue for a vaccine to enable people who are worried can perhaps get their vaccine quicker deserves credit.

A bit of perspective in this article. Its back from 2012 so the number of deaths will be even higher now describing how air pollution causes at least 30,000 deaths in the Uk every year. Why are people not crying about banning motor vehicles

How the fook is releasing measures going to be practical whilst adhering to social distancing measures? shops won't be viable only letting a couple in at a time, and where are everybody going to queue? there will be lines of people waiting to get into different shops all tripping over one another outside stretching way down the road all whilst keeping 2 metres apart...totally unworkable.

wolf,
It was a slight on the old chestnut about getting knocked down by a bus tomoz when people attempt to minimize the affect of something else. I'll put it another way, IMO, my chances of contracting the virus are significantly higher than getting knocked down crossing the road. |

Cheers Angoose, the poll states " 80% would feel unsafe going back to everyday life " which is a bit different to them being supportive of a lockdown but perhaps the ones not worried about the virus are in a minority.
In times gone by the vast majority of the population also believed the sun was pulled by a chariot across the sky as they couldn't explain the physics behind it. They also believed the earth was flat where you would fall off the edge if you went too far and only a few hundred years ago most people supported women with dark hair being burnt on stakes as witches for being the embodiment of satan. I'm quite happy to be in a minority of sane people as the minority in times gone by existed with those scenarios and were clearly a sane percentage of society compared to the masses of stupid people. I call it as I see it using statistical figures of mortality , age risks and economic fallout. In recent "polls " 59 % of people also state they are Christian despite never attending church , not knowing if God exists or not and despite apparently following a religion that condemns those to hell for not following the " 10 commandments " they regularly divorce, thieve, lie condemning themselves to a fiery afterlife they apparent believe in as " christians". I wouldn't pay too much heed to polls from the great unwashed public. |

from what i read 80% of people will get the virus, that's a big number, now we know a lot of children will not contact it for some reason or other, and old people who live alone are safe if they lock themselves up.As also young people who live alone are safe if THEY don't go out, which means nearly everyone else will get it except the people i mentioned. Now if nearly everyone is going to get it,the real reason for the lock down is that they don't want everyone to get it at the same time.
So my reading on all this is that the real plan is to lock down for 2 or 3 years ,to divide the death's up to an average per month, and hope inside the 3 years someone comes up with a cure. ![]() |

I mean how can anyone have much confidence in this mad society when the supposed leading health organisation ( world health organisation) asks Lady Gaga for advice run by a man who isn't even a doctor

By:
its the nearest you get to someone admitting they were wrong they bang on about absolute shoite
the point of the poll is who is going to lay out money on staff, stock etc and open up pubs, eateries, shops etc when the majority of public don't want to go out and do things they have to do ,never mind socialise, leisure etc etc |

No ones " wrong" , I don't care what your online poll says or not. Unlike you I dont base my views on what others think- not all of us are sheep.
One question for you 1st time, when we all finish months of being holed away opening the letter box for essentials, what happens when a rickety raft carrying " economic travellers " makes its way across the channel and despite our best efforts the whole thing starts again. |

Here's the survey https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8225891/Four-fifths-say-not-feel-safe-lockdown-lifted-now.html How is that supposed to be a surprise given the media and their cherry picked doom merchants put the fear of God into everyone. The media benefit enormously from this lockdown, in terms of viewers and website hits they've never had it so good. I think all online papers hire people specifically to write click bait titles. |

Most leading doctors ( although who can trust anyone ) think there wont be a vaccine until summer 2021 at the earliest if there is one at all. Given that there are no guarantees of it working and reports of more than one strain of virus where is the exit plan?

On sky news there is a woman with a dog collar on now who is apparently " former deputy chief medical officer reverend professor gina radford" giving her views on what we should do next from a medical perspective. A woman who believes that water and wafers are transubstantiated into the blood/flesh of christ is giving her opinion on medical matters for a country to adhere to.. you couldn't make it up

wolf, here is two stats for you.
1=nobody has found a cure for it. 2= nobody has found a vaccine to treat it. Now governments, scientists, and WHO can talk all they like about flattening curves, and crossing peaks, but the virus will still infect until the two stats have an answer, the virus is not saying to itself,"i am on a up slope or i am on a down slope,it is saying ,i will kill everyone i can who gets in my way. and i agree with you that all the governments of the world are waffling. the virus will move relentlessly until one of the top two states are met. governments know that if they let people out they will die of the virus. the virus did not stop spreading, its people who have hidden from the virus that has numbers of deaths dropping, and nobody knows if the virus has a big brother coming behind him. |
