The lockdown is a pain in the @arse (especially for those of us who have people to take care of), but it is bearable for a few weeks more. When hopefully, we will see a staeady decline in the daily mortality rates. I wish they had started it sooner, though.

I don't believe there will be a cure/vaccine- we haven't found one for the common cold and even if one is found it's unlikely to provide long term immunity. It will come down to either being able to survive it or not which goes back to Darwin and survival of the fittest that has ultimately been prevalent since the human race appeared and will continue to be the case until it disappears.
Medical advancements aren't as advanced as many people think, it wasn't that long ago in the wide scheme of things regarding the history of humanity your local doctor would tell you to pop a couple of leeches down your throat for diseases. These "high grade" ventilators are being manufactured by Dyson who specialise in vacuum cleaners which is basically the only treatment as there is no cure. |

dare i say it,people have got use to the death numbers, everyone looks and if it drops to 500 hundred a day, everyone will say we are winning, but what it really means is that to virus could only get in contact with a lower amount of people.its still about and still killing, and governments may use children first to allow them to go back to school because children seem to be immune to it in general, but its a massive gamble to allow adults back out.Thats why i think governments are stalling for time until a cure or vaccine is found.and it follows from that ,that we may have a 2 to 3 year lockdown.

Hope for the best expect the worst Brassneck is always a wise life philosophy. We all discuss on here betting strategies - a year ago we were hunting for the holy grail to be retiring on an island of scantily clad beauties sipping cocktails on a beach - now the holy grail is to avoid dying in hospital gasping for breath on a modified vacuum cleaner.

In my opinion
Once this past....life will return to normal, as before The only long term effect will be to the economy, we will have accumulated a lot more deebt |

I think they need to lift the lockdown as soon as possible.
They are not even discussing how a return to work could happen. People who need to isolate should do just that. I feel sorry for many people wh9 have put their houses on the line. They are being slow roasted. They are still letting people into the country without any health checks. About 15,000 a day. What is the point of being locked down if people coming into the country can bring* the virus with them |

i will kill everyone i can who gets in my way. I don't think this is true, look at it from the virus's point of view, it wants its host to be mobile, up and about, it wants the opportunity to infect other potential hosts, killing its host causes it a great problem. You'd have to view the fact that it infects some whilst producing no symptoms as an act of genius if it was a conscious decision. It wants to live in us and death to us might result, but it certainly isn't the aim of the virus to do this. |
|

people could get fed up being locked up an say to themselves"feck this,i will take my chances and if i catch it i catch it"
|
|

lift the lockdown anytime you like people will vote with their feet they don't want to go pubbing, clubbing, eating out, football, travelling on public transport, etc,etc and if we get even a small rise in infections they,ll be scared ,worried for even longer,
as I posted elsewhere the great brains of the tory party want to open estate agents 1st,the amount of people wanting to buy ,move house is somewhere between zero and one, and it isn't one, and if it was one when it was explained to him it might be worth 10% less in 6 months time,he decided to give it a miss, what planet are these loony tory,s on |
|
By:
it makes you wonder about planet earth 4.5 billion years old,and the possibility of pass civilizations being wiped out by some virus. As for dinosaurs ,i bet someone somewhere is writing a new history about the end of the dinosaurs as i post.

duffy im happy to give up my place in the queue for the vaccine. In fact I wont have it under any circumstances.

1st time. I see no reason for you to call me a loon just because i hold a different opinion to you. I dont know why you are so scared of this but you are free to hide away forever if you want. Just dont expect me to do the same.
I see you didnt answer my earlier question about time. As for sick people under 40 on TV ive never stated that some dont get sick. All i did was point you to stats that prove virtually zero healthy under 40;s die. You ignore that as its an inconvenient fact. |

The nurse who died was under wasn’t she?

Speak oh great sage We are ready |

WD there have been a few perhaps I should have said less than 10. That looks accurate based on the stats and an underlying health condition of about 90%.
Nurses are of course at higher risk since they are getting huge exposure. |
|
By:
The stats can be made to say what people want them to.
I would just say this virus is capable of knocking anyone down. It does need to be treated with caution. We do need to get back to work though |
|
By:
The stats here are simple. Only about 100 from 12000 who have died in England have been 40 or under and we know overall over 90% have had an underlying condition. The only guess is what percentage of the under 40s had such a condition. If its 90% overall that would mean 90 from the 100 leaving 10. That looks a conservative guess if anything.
Its totally clear that this virus isnt a major threat to the healthy and young. |
|
By:
Millions have "underlying conditions", I haven't read anywhere that these conditions were such that rendered these people at deaths door already. As many like to point to the issue of many dying with covid rather than because of it, you can also read the same with these underlying conditions.
I'd assume that if you died with covid but suffered from high or low blood pressure, migraines, allergies etc etc etc you'd all be getting recorded as having an "underlying condition", it doesn't mean the "oh well, they were on their way out" comment applies. |
|
By:
The two largest underlying conditions quoted today were heart disease and dementia. Migraines and allergies are not underlying conditions and its stupid putting them here.

I reckon that the suckers will be ram packed when the lockdown is over.. and the price of flights and holdays will sky rocket as people rush to get on holiday..
A bit like the Thursday night before Good Friday (in normal times)... First bank holiday since Christmas, pubs are chocker coz every fooker has been skint for weeks after Xmas. |

Dont worry mecca. Its a free country. Stay hiding under your bed you will be fine.

Not me mate.... I can't wait for the boozers to open

And to get back to the football... Europa League glory awaits
|
|
By:
Maybe some of the younger deaths had underlying conditions that they were unaware of. Fabrice Muamba springs to mind,a fit guy who obviously had something wrong that nobody knew about.
