Fire-and-ice is talking nonsense as usual.  His first link is medical insurance and the second link is a critical illness policy   Critical illness policies payout on diagnosis of cancer, not death by cancer.  So saying a patient died of covid rather than cancer would be irrelevant to these policies (except on the extraordinary circumstance of someone dying of covid who had undiagnosed cancer).  There are no* life insurance policies that pay out only on death by cancer.

*there might be some fraud company that markets something like that but no large company would as the policies wouldn't be sold by brokers because they have the opposite of a unique selling point.

Mexico, you know fine well what I meant by, "It's not quite cricket", so kindly refrain from handing me your verbal pish justifying your reasons for derailing my thread which asked just one question to a particular trio of people.

While you certainly make some valid points in other areas, they were not the topic of this thread.

Thank you and I hope you learn better manners.

Charlie, as I said to Mexico, I was asking three people for their opinions and I specifically said, "be it fake news or true."  So mind your language, mind your manners and I'll thank you to wind yer fkn neck in while your at it.

I'll leave the thread to the two of you to ruin further as I've finished with it.

People gonna make ya wonder if you're right
Keep ya wide awake and worried late at night
Why don't ya tell 'em to beat it
Why don't ya tell 'em to eat it
They're just a bunch of clowns
Don't let 'em grind ya down

Sons of bitches, crocodile tears in their eyes
We scare 'em shitless just by showin' up alive
Why don't you tell 'em to shove it
You know they might as well love it
Give you runaround
Don't let 'em grind ya down

Evil bastards ain't got nothin' else to do
Make your life a misery and put you off your food
Don't you dare to go under
Don't let 'em steal your thunder
Listen to the sound
Well let 'em grind that down

Trilby

This isn't "your thread" - it is a thread on a Betfair chit chat forum. You have no ownership or control over this thread.
Betfair have a list of terms and conditions which YOU. agreed to.

No changing the rules because you wrongly believe this is your thread "is just not cricket "

As mentioned by myself and others this thread is full of dangerous lies. What isn't cricket is for these dangerous lies to go unchallenged because this is "your" thread.
John's post and Fire's poor attempt to support his friend with a couple of ilrelevant links all fall into the deadly narrative that somehow this virus isn't what it seems.
Trilby - over 100k people have been killed by this virus , nearly 1,000 are dying everyday in the UK & you are crying because someone else is posting on "your" thread. Maybe some sort of perspective about priorities Trilby? It' not exactly cricket to post lies about a killer virus on this forum is it?

Maybe worth reading the laws of cricket & forum T&C. Maybe point out where it is fine to post complete BS about this killer virus. Still the important point is that some people have poster on "your" thread.

So thank and I hope you learn better manners.

If better manners is too much to ask then no1 priority is that you, John, Terry M, Fire, and EVERYBODY else follows the health/government advice (& law) and stay at home. Use Social distancing & save lives.

I gotta admit, I didn't bother to check those links out myself.
I just googled and took links from the top.
I couldn't care less, but thought it'd give Mexico summat to do.
It pleases me that you wasted your time too, Dave.

Fire your attitude of "I won't follow health & government advice & "I will do as I lwish " is irresponsible, selfish and illegal.

Are we clear?

I clearly can't stop you from endangering the health and even lives of yourself and many other people but I can point out that your attitude is dangerous.
You seem to have published on an open forum that you are prepared to break the law because "I will do as I like"

The lecture has not just come me - it has come from medical professionals, elected government and scientists. You seem happy enough to break the law and don't seem to care about the potential harm you may be doing by ignoring the government advice.
Isn't that pretty much the ultimate example of nasty selfish irresponsible behaviour.

We can see that you don't understand the basic principles of life assurance now you seem to think that the law doesn't apply to you.

I wish you and your friends and family the best of health & hope you have a change of heart and don't "do as you wish"

Don't be evil .

The first 2 posts on this thread contain youtube clips and are asking for people's response to them.

It is you who is hijacking the thread solely in order to squabble with the usernames who upset you!

You don't even watch youtube clips so why contribute?

Err yes it does
Your "I'll do as I wish" was a reply to the " follow government advice & keep social distancing "

The law/advice is there to protect lives. it doesn't allow for "I'll do as I wish" attitude.

Glad you have already changed your attitude and won't be breaking the law. Well done Fire - you hero. Gold star for not breaking the law.

This link needs to be seen

A qualified USA doctor/senator's viewpoint on covid numbers

It is obvious that posters on here with an agenda don't want people to see this kind of viewpoint. Are they evil? Possibly.

They have closed minds and feel threatened by what the doctor is saying.

Deflection and derailment of debate is what they do.

They are not exactly subtle are they?

correct...however that isn't the law, its a statute

contravening the coronavirus act is not breaking the law

if acts of parliament were laws they'd be called laws of parliament

An Act of Parliament creates a new law or changes an existing law.

Are you sure you are correct wonder. The good people at Parliament.uk seem to think it is the law. So seems to be a difference of opinion.

Who is correct? Are you sure about this Act of Parliament being different to the law?

I am correct & I congratulate the system its done a great job brainwashing you

legislation is not "the law" as you seem to think, it is statute

"the law" in england is made up of statutes & common law
statutes require societal consent which is implied but can be refused
common law, on the other hand, you are bound by

so you can do something that is illegal but lawful
By:

these fixed penalty notices work in the same way that speeding tickets work

speeding on the road is not breaking the law
its contravening the road traffic act
if your speeding causes an accident that injures/kill another person or harms their property, then that's breaking the law

understand the difference?
most people don't
By:

They just get points don't they? for speeding that is

I have no argument to idiot drivers, if they're caught acting pillocks on the road remove their licence, I agree with strict rules in regards to that

Wonder

I hope you are telling the truth are not spreading misinformation about the government's response to this virus.

The people at Parliament.uk clearly think that an act of Parliament is used to create/ amend laws. The Members of Parliament were under the impression that after the Act passed it would be enforced by police/ courts & fines could be given for breaking the law.
The police are under the impression that it is against the law to be out of the house without good reason and/or in a group.

Perhaps wonder it is worth letting these groups of people know that it is fine to ignore this act of Parliament because you don't think it is the law.

You haven't even bothered to provide any evidence as to why Parlaiment.uk are incorrect- just checking you are not spreading misinformation on the subject..

"breaking the law" isn't a legal term so I have no idea what point he is trying to make. AFAIK the only important issue with an offence under legislation passed by parliament is that the police have to tell you what offence you are committing.

There are various offences detailed in the Coronavirus Act eg

A person commits an offence if the person—
(a)fails without reasonable excuse to comply with any direction, reasonable instruction, requirement or restriction given to or imposed on the person under this Part of this Schedule,

(b)fails without reasonable excuse to comply with a duty under paragraph 62(1) or (2) (duties of individuals who have responsibility for a child),

(c)absconds or attempts to abscond while being removed to or kept at a place under this Part of this Schedule,

(d)knowingly provides false or misleading information in response to a requirement to provide information under this Part of this Schedule or otherwise in connection with the exercise of any power under this Part of this Schedule, or

(e)obstructs a person who is exercising or attempting to exercise a power conferred by this Part of this Schedule.

all those "offences" (a) to (e) contravene the coronavirus act...ie they are illegal
but none of them are unlawful

as long as you state that you refuse your consent to be bound by statute then you are acting within the law and are therefore offered the full protection of the law

same as with speeding tickets, if you accept a fixed penalty notice then you are deemed to have consented

Wonder once again thanks for not bothering to provide any links to back up the "legal principles" which Parliament overlooked.

Maybe a good idea if people just follow Government/ medical advice on social distancing. Then their actions will be both legal and lawful & won't be taken to court or fined.

Is a fairly simple message- avoid meeting people outside household, stay at home . unfortunately nearly a thousand people are dying every day in UK so these restrictions may be in place for a while.

Wonder - do you have any problems with following the advice. I assume you understand what tge advice is & tge reason for the advice.
