You get the felling that the behavioural scientists were listened to far too much and that they got it wrong about the willingness of the public to accept and comply with lockdown measures.

why we should be wearing masks - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkN8yCWSGus
he started reporting on the virus over 70 days ago, he called it a pandemic at the end of january - he strongly recommends wearing masks. at a minimum you will either inhale or exhale lesser amounts so you will be less at risk of getting and giving. it also stops you from touching your mouth and nose, two of the three entry points. the czech republic mandated wearing masks in public some time ago and they are doing a lot better than many other european countries (they also went hard and early with their lock down). |
By:
My issue with masks is that you end up with individuals wearing the same mask, unwashed, for months on end

By:
Of course, politicians have got used to behaving like bandits without the need to wear a mask

the behavioural scientists views fit too neatly with the libertarian views of those at the heart of government who didnt want to tell the public what to do.
this is a terrible after time but i did think that it felt like someone at the heart of government had read the science, not understood it but decided he knew more than anyone else and decided to really push for herd immunity. this is exactly what the sunday times article said a while back, i note that a 'government source' said its contents were slander yet no legal proceedings have been launched at the the times. classic dom, where is he? |

Make masks and hoodies mandatory

Easier if we all just wear hijabs

with no vaccine likely for a while, if ever, then once there are enough for key workers we should all be told to wear them.
at a minimum, if you wear one you cant touch your nose or mouth so cant infect yourself. that video is only about 7 minutes long, it shows how a mask means what you cough out travels less distance. |

what about possible long term effects for those who get a serious dose of covid? it doesnt look good, imo. to be avoided as much as possible.

People are not even wearing gloves at my supermarket. We wear gloves masks and carry around our home made sanitizer. We even keep our sun glasses on. A few have started wearing masks in the past week. People are well behaved and most civil though, well done my people.
I don’t trust the Governments advice. I do what I think is best for me and my family. Some of these people issuing quite often the wrong advice and instructions think the rules don’t apply to them. Jendrick must go. Of course he will try and wheedle out of it but at the very least he has shown poor judgement and hypocrisy, gawn! |

tory,s take days of news headlines before eventually going, doing the right thing is not in the tory play book,at least jenrick will be spared taking part in another car crash lectern performance pretending to be a scientist, to be fair not the worst out there and did okay in GE, but come on got to go,if not its a free for all for anybody and everybody
By:

Robert Jendrick did not visit his parents or drop off food or vital medical supplies it’s a lefty plot made up by the MSM and is fake news, never happened! |

This was in the press today. Are ministers who work in London allowed to see their wife and kids in their second homes outside London during the crisis? Or have they been told they cannot see them for the duration? Same thing for NHS nurses. If they are staying in a free hotel between shifts so they do not need to keep travelling allowed to see their kids if they get a few days off? |
By:
fook me forget the rules he,s sat with, stood with a bloke who,s been in icu and at least 3 others who,ve had virus then treavels 40 miles to see his at risk parents, he,d needs sacking for pure stupidity never mind looking for a get out clause loop hole arounf his 1st,2nd,3rd, foooking homes
By:
And also travelling 150 miles to his second home.
By:
Calderwood, as I understand it, actually took her whole family to her 2nd home and back to town again two weekends in row. She was already seeing her kids regardless of where they were.
Jenrick, as I understand it, works in London as a minister and went to see his wife and kids who live outside London. Are the rules that if people work in one place they cannot see their kids and wife until the end of lockdown? I assume that would apply to everyone who works away from their wife and kids overnight ever? Truck drivers? Nurses? etc etc. |

I wonder which poor sap is going to be given the job of standing in front of a lectern this afternoon and defending jenrick fron a dozen questions from journo,s about jenrick, like the Scottish cmo might be in a job before the press conference but long afterwards, they may put jenrick himself up to defend himself like the scot cmo
By:
You won’t see Jenrick in front of lectern any time soon.
Seriously IT Would you want that man to deliver food to your home? Do you realise. Calderwood did not endanger anyone? Jendrick endangered his whole family |

I can understand his journey to his parents as not doing so is committing a cardinal sin worse than any political decision he'll ever have to make in the future, if he has one. But, journey to family "undeclared" home in Hertfordshire whilst working in London on 2 separate occasions is taking the biscuit; he's not one for exercise.
I thought everyone of us in the present climate has to make some sort of sacrifice eg give up work due to "lockdown"; shop infrequently and only if necessary; short exercise outside once a day. Yet this plonker has done none of that eg continue to work in London; drive to his "undeclared" family home; do Samaritan work for his parents; his constituency in Nottingham. So, what has he sacrificed during this "lockdown"? I understand he's a minister, but he's still gallivanting between London, his constituency in Nottingham and "family" home in Hertfordshire. |

I wouldn't trust the current cabinet on a park bench never mind the front bench in the Commons
Where's Righteous-Smog at the moment ...he's like the Scarlet Pimpernel |

Jendrick endangered his whole family ^ So you think that anyone that goes to work in an essential role e.g. running the government, NHS, delivery drivers and so on should not see their kids until this over? Maybe you are right as anyone that leaves the home and goes back into to is endangering the household. |

Both him and his wife spend the week working in London.
They have three young children. Where do they go to school? London, Newark, or Herefordshire ? |
By:
Schools are shut. Maybe they go to boarding schools. Not really relevant as they have been living in Herefordshire since the lockdown as I understand it.
By:
It is relevant if the kids go to school in London.
By:
Or in Newark, where he rents a home at £2,000 per month which is paid for out of public funds.
By:
Your replies obfuscate the truth IT .. Jenrick was wrong to do what he did particularly when he was preaching the Gov't rules and expecting everyone to adhere to them using the police if necessary .. you know it as well as anybody on here so why defend what is indefensible
By:
From his website
Robert is married to Michal, and together they have three young daughters. They live in Southwell near Newark, and in London. |

Maybe that's how Bojo and the others got infected ie gallivanting from one meeting/group of people then to family. What a bunch of plonkers? I hope they've learned from what's happening with Bojo.
