In a discussion about why Eastern Europe is less affected it was suggested that perhaps Eastern Europeans are protected because the BCG vaccine is mandatory in those countries.

I recall having this injection in school in mid 1980s and assumed it was mandatory everywhere.

Apparently though we stopped doing it in 2005, Spain discontinued it in 1981,  and Italy never used it all .....Plain

This is looking very positive. New trials commencing world wide. We possibly have a ready made vaccine.

Makes no sense as Covid-19 is affecting the elderly and not the young.

I suppose the idea is that young people in Eastern Europe are immunized to some extent and not able to spread it.

Not so much in counties without BCG

Looking at this again, what S.V  is saying, kinda makes sense. You would think, a large majority of over 50's in the Uk would have had the jab.
