I agree,china dropping hints
a million you touch a surface with it on,another million it stays on your hand, till you shake ,touch someone elses hand, and another million that person sticks sed finger up their nose, repeat millions of times across the world,
and as ive posted elsewhere the top german scientists,dr,s,chenmits surrounded germans hoitsopt town and found zilch evicdence of smearing transmission from objects to people ,known as smearing,
think we,ll find its transmitted like normal flu outbteaks
Report Coachbuster April 5, 2020 6:28 PM BST
well however it's passed on it's passed on to 2.4 people in normal times  ...so while its very contageous esp in hospitals with viral load etc it can't be THAT easy to just handle it and get the virus

imo
Report themightymac April 5, 2020 6:29 PM BST
Good to see you back Bap.

some of that 2.4  is the partner   ... then it was handshaking  or coughing

should go down dramatically unless people deliberately spread the virus Plain

One can spit further than 2m yet a deadly virus has a range of only 2m. Is the Pope non-Catholic?
Report UBLE/REGY April 5, 2020 7:25 PM BST
I see...the two metres also covers thinks like coughing on each other, which would include spit

I see it has not been assessed whether it is airborne or not...

But in the OP's opinion it is

but it is 14 DAYS
Report UBLE/REGY April 5, 2020 7:43 PM BST
If the coronavirus does not develop within 14 days of possible infection...the chances are the person does not have the virus

the average incubation period for this virus is 5 days

and people who  die of it,  is usually within 11.5 days
Report 1st time poster April 5, 2020 7:46 PM BST
we have the Scottish loon
and just seen 20 drs crammed into a hospital room some an inch apart, some that close their overlapping, giving thumbs up ,Brexit speeches, waves to ch 4 camera,s,
why doesn't hancock sack the fooooking lot of them instead of banging on about sunmbathers

Is that some 'official' figure ? It is nonsense IMO

Does not match up to the stats of cases/deaths at all

My guess would be the people dying of it today were infected in the first few days of March.

Report Baphornet April 5, 2020 10:32 PM BST
good evening Cap'n; i watch with an unblinking eye!
ps
i hope you're well & not breathing in too much NW air or aerosols

“In the mind of scientists working on this, there’s absolutely no doubt that the virus spreads in the air,” says aerosol scientist Lidia Morawska at the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. “This is a no-brainer.”
Report doantwin2easy April 5, 2020 11:04 PM BST
I think there's little doubt the virus spreads most effectively in the air. Surely that's not the debate, it's how long it lingers in the air and whether a breath is sufficient, as opposed to a cough or a sneeze.
Report tobermory April 5, 2020 11:15 PM BST
Yes there hasn't been any debate about it as far as I know.
Report GoBallistic April 5, 2020 11:23 PM BST
If asymptomatic carriers are effective spreaders (and that seems to be largely accepted by everyone) then how else could they be spreading it except by breathing ?  It's not by coughing or sneezing since they're asymptomatic
Report doantwin2easy April 5, 2020 11:26 PM BST
and yet this hasn't been talked about AT ALL. We see the mainstream media showing videos of how far a cough can travel. We have no requirement for masks etc etc. Would the very likelihood of this be too much to stop people going into all out panic.

Or have the powers that be just not thought this through?
Report Angoose April 5, 2020 11:28 PM BST

from what i've read small amounts are breathed into the air  and stay in the air for some time  ...but you need a certain amount to get an episode going  ...normally when folk 'aerosol'

it's interesting ,but whenever i go into the shop  even for a minute   i end up coughing  for a while some while later   ..then it goes .
Report trilby22 April 6, 2020 6:12 AM BST
It's absolutely airborne and the two metre distance advice is the absolute MINIMUM people should be keeping.  Three or four would be more sensible, imo - and a dang sight more when you're up/down wind of others.
Report Injera April 6, 2020 4:57 PM BST
WHO are saying it’s spread if we cough or exhale, I find it very hard to understand that people are infecting others in the open air walking along a path or beach.
If someone coughs in your face, yes. If someone breathes next to you on a crowded tube, yes too.

In the open air? I struggle with that.
Report Coachbuster April 6, 2020 5:02 PM BST
if that were the case every single person would have the virus without fail

standing classed  as sunbathing  ....  both not moving ..

like i say ,those in flats  need the space to get out and sunbathe alone away from others ...it's for their mental health .

it shouldn't be difficult to find a remote place even in the park itself    ...middle of a park probably not the best idea

Report Charlie April 6, 2020 5:37 PM BST
It is not airborne. It is spread by droplets. Droplets may be passed on directly to another person by coughing or sneezing or by putting them onto a surface touched by another person who touches their own face. Hence the advice for social distancing and hand washing.

german town hotspot biggest breakout, been engulfed by every top german, scientiust,dr,chemist not on iota of evidence of spread through picking it up of a hard surface,
surely uk science would be taking millions of sampes of supermarket door handles etc and producing tons of evidence thay they've found it on hard surfaces, yet not a drop in a teet has been produced

Anyone volunteering as a guinea pig? Food and board for determining if Covid-19 droplets could be transported by air in a control environment eg get a sufferer like Bojo to cough?

It's being done. Quite a lot of research going on into that (not with Doris though).
Report Coachbuster April 6, 2020 7:00 PM BST
they need to trace those door and handle lickers on the underground  .... they could be the key people the scientists need Cool
Report Baphornet April 6, 2020 9:34 PM BST
as you can see; not everyone agrees it is airborne, & that goes for the "experts" as well. Hence this topic

It is found on surfaces, but the role of surface contamination of surfaces is believed to have a very minor role in the overall number of infections in general life. Airborne spreading and infection was found to be far more important in German studies.
