also 'as testing capacity continues to increase', another caveat. Why would you add these words if you were serious about tackling the problem right away?

By:
It is too late, i presume that HM goverment notice went up today?
You are correct,a big difference re testing everyone and everyone who needs one. This is just so f sad. |

Big increase in new csaes in Ireland this evening because they are testing care homes.
Why the delay in UK care home testing? |
|
By:
being rolled out right now.
100,000 test capability in UK by end of month. Then the whole trace and test system will be developed with 18,000 contact tracers. |
|
By:
I thought it was being rolled out on the 15th April?
|
|
By:
BBC headline 15th April, "More tests promised for care homes"
So it was also being rolled out then, this was after pressure after the briefing. So in effect it has done Jack since then, made a false promise and 8 days later going down the same route? |
|
By:
Wait until the civil liberty wallahs get hold of the contact trace reality. They'll go f**king nuts!

Handy hint: if your testing regime is always in the future tense, you never have to go through with it.

I knew you couldn't answer that back Insider Trader, but you see the pattern? kick the can down the road.
You aren't going back to getting that economy going (though a few baby steps with some firms lately),everything is behind and only facing a reaction after the can of worms has been open, slack out. |

Ireland has stepped up testing in nursing homes this week. Its new cases have spiked in the last few days as a result. But I think outside of care homes the cases are steadily falling still with an R0 of between 0.5 and 0.8 on latest estimates.

By:
I saw pictures of fleets of medical cars and ambulances going to care homes, the medical swat teams, late but good news which will undoubtly save some lives.
Touch wood seems the community cases have been largely contained due to decisive action early,a gradual, clever lifting on restrictions and not looking that bad there against what could have been, fair play imo. |
|
By:
Yeah it looks like they are finding a couple of hundred new cases a day at least in care homes since they went into them.
|
|
By:
Hancock on todays briefing that the reason for allowing visiting in care homes up to lockdown was "they" were guided by "clinical advice", really? why did some homes stop visitors?
Negligence on a huge scale. |
|
By:
And just for Insider Trader, they again said TODAY,testing for care homes is "being rolled out".

With hindsight the key to minimsing the death numbers in every country was to put all your eggs in protecting the old/vulnerable basket and watch that basket like hawk. Billions could have been targeted at solving this given the £3bn a day the lockdown costs.
Tried to call the helpline for people that are most vulnerable and had had an NHS letter. Talked to a computer. No call back in 24 hours. Could be starving with no meds for all they know. Yet 700,000 signed up an NHS community helpers most of whom have been asked to do nothing. Whole thing is a PR sham. Try telling people in care homes the governments' 'we are in it together' PR nonsense is true. What a complete disaster the whole thing has been from the group think of the 'scientists' who were allowed to influence policy (to the exclusion of any dissenters) and the politicians in every country in Europe and America that hid behind them. The 'science' led policy has resulted in the quarantining of the younger fitter members of society who have virtually no chance of dying of the virus and the most vulnerable in care homes and the sick in hospital have been left with virtually zero protection. What a mess of inverted policy throughout the western world. |

By:
I'm sorry you didn't get an answer on that helpline, that is unforgivable.
There are supposed local council helplines,i can't vouch for them, ring even samaritians or police if it is really urgent, they will at least offer advice I wasn't having a "go" at you with earlier post, i am so disappointed with the false promises and maybe a bit soft as well, after a long life they deserve better than that. |

We managed to sort out supplies through working the system. But what about the most vulnerable people who absolutely rely on the state to help them?
An example is my wife got a letter on the 10th April from NHS advising she was highly at risk and should isolate for 12 weeks. 10th April! I mean lock down for everyone started on 23rd March. We personally did it a week before that. What if we had not done our own research? So fit young people were put under house arrest 18 days before NHS letter to a vulnerable person was received. I hear this has happened to many people who are vulnerable. Whilst the leading scientists and politicians prance about doing vanity projects like the Excel centre that is empty things like care homes and basics were not properly protected. We clap carers and NHS every week when most are embarrassed they have so little to do because most services are not operating (don't get me wrong those in ICU are doing a massive service). Governments are fixated with messaging they will not even tell us what the plan is. That Irish PM even turned up surrounded by cameras to do a doctors shift. They are so vain. These same scientists and politicians that are leading the fight to save us are so thick they caught the virus themselves - like Neil Ferguson (Guy who published a paper on false assumptions that led to lock down of the young), Chris Whitty (Chief medical advisor for the country), Boris Johnson (Prime Minister) and Matt Hancock (Health Secretary). How can we trust that awesome foursome to get us out this when they could not even look after themselves? |

varadkar is a qualified doctor, hes helping
not vainly shaking hands with corona victims if clown boris did anything useful it would be news |
|
By:
He would be better off leading the country's plans to protect their vulnerable, especially in care homes, than taking time out to get social media snap shots in medical gear.
|
|
By:
There are tens of thousands of other people that could do that but there is only one PM.

By:
all hands to the pump
i know helping irish health service is miles better than stupidly infecting yourself with corona virus for a photo op. |
